Put some water and soak it then try to dig it. Also depend on the power of the tool. Couple of time almost twist my hand due to getting stuck and then start. My 20V matrix Black&Decker is not taking any spin.** A: I use a corded drill for this auger instead of my battery drill since the corded ones won't run out of juice like the battery powered drills. You can use them successively to "drill" a bigger hole, and once you develop your technique, you can drill the hole and empty it out. And, an ordinary 20 volt cordless drill has enough power to operate it it. Care must be taken with harder dirt and/or roots, as sudden stops can twist the drill out of your hand, or injuring your wrist.
