There is one negative review said the hooks are too thick for door to close, is it?

The hooks of old model are too thick for door to close; Now there the update model are available, I have purchased one, the thickness of hooks is only 2mm/0.078inch and the door can be closed.

How long work light？

Maybe a hour without the charger. Not that long. You would have to keep it charging if you plan on using it more than an hour.

Does this turn the long, verticle way?

Not sure it's just like the photo but if you get creative you might be able to pull it off it comes with hanging things that could help

Will this work if you sit it on a desk/table?

Yes it will. But it will be much better if you put it on the door. I love mine. You can do whatever works best for you.
