I bought this NVMe SATA SSD Enclosure for 1TB SSD (Crucial P3 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 NVMe Internal SSD) and this pair is working very well together, as well as external storage for Lumix S5 IIX ... ... this is another encloseure that I have from company ORICO and I am very happy with that product ...

Easy install, comes with heatsink pad inside. Data speeds are all relevant to the SSD you use so I am at 3.5gbps. Cheapest one I could find and works better than a more expensive one I have bought and binned.

As another reviewer commented this supports both M.2 NVMe M Key/B+M Key as well as M.2 NGFF SATA B+M Key SSDs [i.e SSDs with a SATA interface] of any of the common lengths lengths. In other words not a SATA B key device. I may be a bit mean deducting a star on the installation category, but it is a bit fiddly using the rubber pin to hold it in place. TIP: watch the video to see how to install: it shows the SSD being inserted BEFORE adding the thermal pad and heat sink, rather than adding them before installation. This would allow you test that they will fit in the case satisfactorily by putting them in before removing the sticky protective covering on the thermal pad. HOWEVER the instructions (very badly written English ) say 'the SATA SSD enclosure skips this step' when referring to the thermal pad - see photo - so I assume this means that for some reason you should not use them on a 'SATA' SSD. The video does not mention anything about this. As I wanted to put in a 'SATA' SSD I left out the thermal pad/heatsink - for the time being, until I get some clarification. This is the reason I deducted a star from the overall rating. Again, a bit mean perhaps. How does it perform? The photo shows CrystalDiskMark figures using the provided USB C to USB C cable. REMEMBER these are for a SATA interface SDD. When in the laptop from which I took the SSD I was getting slightly better but comparable figures for the 'reads', but between 4 and 4.5 times the speeds on the 'writes'. I can't complain too much as these are much much better than you would get with an HDD.

After have a few caddies in the past which although worked well as external drives for data transfer most failed when cloning, especially 1-2tb drives. Caddies got very hot and many failed to clone due to crashing through heat. I sort od overcame this by using heatsinks of sorts. I'm happy to say the first 2 clones (1tb to 2tb) went vwery well and truly quickly. Heat was acceptable. Transfers od data (around 350-400gb music and images very fast. So all said and doen, nice. The USB 3 C to C is the way to go.

The transfer speeds, both read and write through the device are decent and I'm happy there. The primary issue is heat. It's obvious that heat will play into it but even with the cool pad that's provided it still gets too hot and disconnects from the machine. I resorted to using an external fan to keep it cool while in operation. At that point I had no issues. Overall, if you have the ability to keep it cool when it's in use you'll be happy for the price.

Used to clone my Surface pro 8 system disk onto a new 1TB samsung 2230 NVME Gen 3x4. Worked a treat using Macrium Reflect free trial edition which also resized the main partition automatically for me. Very hand for someone like me who mamy need to transfer data onto M.2 NVME disks and it was a bonus that this one take the 2230 size (which not all do). At the moment I've installed a spare 256MB NVME into it to use a s a backup. At the priice why not!

I got this to house a spare 256GB nvme, install took all of 5 seconds, the heatsink works great, no issues doing a heavy write/read session, shows up as if it's an internal drive. Using it on Linux (Fedora 37).

Very good and essential for cloning an M.2 Nvme. I used it to clone a M.2 NVME disk and everything went great. Note: you will need a usb c to regular usb adapter if your PC does not have a USB C input as it comes with a USB C to USB C cable. You can also use a cable that you have for each regular USB to USB C.
