Does this product have a particular taste or smell?

It is mildly sweet due to the glycerin content. It historically is very well tolerated even for the pickiest of pets. Thanks for the question!

Does this product go bad quickly if accidentally left out, or is it more of a degrades over time sort of thing? (Husband didn’t realize it was needed

Not at all. We produce products with no or minimal preservatives ..... as a result if the dropper accidentally touches the cat food or the inside of a dogs mouth & is then placed back in the bottle the cooler temps of a refrigerator may help reduce microbial growth if it gets introduced. Methylcobalamin is stable at room temperatures but is sensitive to light, so please don't store it in direct sunlight. Thank you for your question!
