The mouth on the catcher is more than big enough for the .556, and should catch the .308 shells too. The straps are plenty long to go around most any forearms. Since the .308 casings are a bit larger, the catch bag will fill up quicker, but probably will still hold 15 or 20. **Q: How does this attach to my AR ?** A: It attaches with a velcro strap that wraps around the handguard just in front of the ejection port. If you have some sort of riser or maybe red dot optic that mounts close to the area ahead of the ejection port, you won't be able to use the catcher. It can work reasonably well if you make sure the velcro strap is as tight as youcan get it. One problem you might encounter is sometimes the last ejected brass case might catch near the top of the bag and cause ejection/feed/jams for the next round. I also have found that the very hot brass from AR style gas impingement systems can actually melt the nylon mesh and stick in the bag. Then I also end up with a small piece of nylon melted onto the lip of my brass so I have to make sure to remove it when I reload the brass. When I use the catcher, I leave the bottom of the bag unzipped so the ejected brass will just fall out of the bottom of the bag - this helps me to make sure the brass is not stuck by the ejection port and that it is not stuck and melted to the nylon mesh. To be honest, I don't use mine much any more. If I need to stop the brass from flying, I can just drape a heavy peice of leather or some sort of heavy material over the ejection port to stop the cases from flying. Just make sure that it is rigid enough to not rest firmly against the ejection port - you need to make sure there is enough clearance for the ejected case to get out and not jam back in the port. **Q: how does this work with an AK-47?** A: It is designed to work with the AR rifles, so it probably won't work with the AK platform.
