This canister holds the contents of a 1 pound coffee brick with a little room to spare. Easy to fill even if there is a little coffee left over from the previous fill.The cover is secured with a formed wire closure tab and bail fastener. This fastener can be operated one handed. This means you can open the canister with one hand, scoop out the coffee with the other and promptly close the lid with the free hand to better preserve the freshness of the coffee. I did not understand this from the description and reviews but it has turned out to be a very nice feature. It takes less than 10 seconds to open, scoop, and close at an ordinary pace with a little practice.The date recording feature is simple to operate and seems to work just fine.The seal is a rubber, vinyl, or similar material gasket with a tab that fits into a groove in the body of the cover. I have found that it seals very well. I only smell coffee when I open the canister or immediately after opening it and that seems correct to me. The seal can easily be removed. From what I see, I believe this seal can be replaced, repaired, and cleaned. I have not done this myself so I can not say for certain. A replaceable seal should meaningfully extend the service life of this canister. It is a wear item and the part most likely to fail from ordinary use. I put up some pics of the seal. If anyone comes up with a replacement part number for the seal, please put it up in a comment or picture!I note that several reviews criticized the freshness seal. I suspect some of those sealing problems may have been related to improper fitment of the seal from the factory or after some use. A misfit is easy to correct by gently pressing the tab of the gasket into the groove in the body of the cover. It might be hard to detect a misfit visually because the underside of the cover and the gasket are both black in color. A close inspection should reveal the problem if it is related to fitment of the seal.I bought this canister for myself and I am not being compensated for this review. I like the canister and am happy with the purchase. I think it is a thoughtful design with suitable materials at a good price. I think I gave $16 for it.If the seal, closure, or canister fail in the next year, I will update this review.

This little canister is the best for keeping the perfect amount of coffee on the counter. It looks very nice and keeps my coffee fresh. It even has a reminder calendar on top to let you know just how long you have stored that coffee. I highly recommend this.

This is the perfect coffee storage canister for me. I like to grind once a week. The air tight seal helps keep the coffee fresh. The size allows for easy measurement of coffee needed per cup. Love the red color. The daily count dial is very handy.

It's a good, exactly as described canister. And the color (red) is great. Haven't had it that long, but it seems to be keeping the coffee fresh. It was very easy to clean before first use, including taking the rubber gasket off and getting it back on again. No complaints; very happy!

Pro: I wanted a canister that was red, opened and closed easily and would hold at least 16 oz. of ground coffee. I drink both caffeinated and decaf coffees and the red color is for my caffeinated version. I keep the decaf in a stainless steel silver version. No chemical or strange smells upon opening it. I washed it prior to using it and water didn't leak at all. Also, it's airtight based on the fact that there was no lingering aroma of coffee the next morning as some negative reviews stated. I purchased mine at a discount as it was returned unopened and 'As New' on Amazon's Resale warehouse. I heartily recommend both of them.Con: None for me.

Pros: Airtight, colorful, and correct size. Great for storing smaller size bags of coffee.Cons: Expensive but canceled out because very difficult to find.

My old coffee storage containers were showing their age (not airtight anymore), so I bought a Mixpresso Stainless Steel Airtight Container in Red for my decaf beans. Well, this container is well-made and will definitely last longer, keeping my beans fresh. Buying my coffee two pounds at a time and really do like the quality of this Mixpresso product, I have now just purchased a second one for the second pound.

Great size for 1lb bags of fresh roast beans from the roaster. Keeps them fresh by releasing off gases through vent from the roasting process. The date tracker on top works well. I would recommend this product. A coffee scoop would be a nice included feature.
