I Have a great appreciation for this product. My dog is a jerk sometimes and if we are walking and I have to carry a bag after cleaning up after him he tries to take it from me and EEEWWWW. The lid latch is a hard latch and if your holding a leash in hand I can imagine it would be a problem holding the leash, the bag, and working the lid. All that being said I bought a hands free leash that attaches to a waist belt on amazon that I reviewed as well, loved it, and attaching this to the waist belt and having the leash hand free means that this product for me was easy to use. For someone who likes long walks and doesn't like carrying the stinky bags this product is perfect. This thing is sturdy, well made, keeps in smell well, and holds plenty if used as instructed by twisting the bags shut with as little air as possible. Highly recommend this to anyone who walks with a dog.

Works well and does what it supposed to do. Plastic is a lot sturdier and stronger than expected. It isn't smell-proof, but it still does a good job of blocking odors. Easy to clean. My only issue is the lid comes off a little too easily when you open the container. I've had the top try to fall off a couple of times when I'm putting dog poo into the container. As you might imagine, this makes things complicated when you have a dog poo bag in one hand and a dog leash in the other. I wish there was a way to improve this but still keep it easy to clean.

After using it for some time, I can say I am very happy with this product. I hike mountain trails and there are pack in, pack out rules to keep nature pristine. My 62-lb young Lab x unfortunately is a frequent pooper so I needed a product to be able to carry his poo over long distances. This has a bulky, odd shape but, though it is small and does not hold a lot, I can fit 4-5 poos if I really try. I tie the bags off and leave the knotted heads hanging outside and clamp the lid down over the necks of the bags. Not subtle but it gets the job done. For a really large dog like a Mastiff, this would hold 2 poos max probably. The Poo Vault is very sturdy and has withstood multiple drops without a crack. I was worried about the plastic lid closures possibly cracking but the lid has fallen off from a drop and if the lid pops off, it is easy to pop right back on and snap in place. This keeps the smell down quite well. This is in part because the lid shuts very tight and secure; hence, it can be difficult to open. For me, the ability to keep the smell contained wins over how easy or tough it is to open but if you don't have strong hands, be forewarned. I am happy I purchased this and it works well for my needs. Could be a tad larger for hikes but I think the size accommodates multiple needs. I attach it to the end of my leash for neighborhood jaunts and it is a good size for walking several blocks; much larger and it would be too big. Overall, a winning purchase for me.

Poo Vault is a must-have for dog walks, especially if you're walking multiple dogs. It is so nice not to have to worry about juggling a smelly poop bag and multiple leashes. I have 2 dogs, each about 30 pounds, and I can fit 2-3 "drop off's" in the Poo Vault. It's very important to follow Poo Vault's instructions to NOT tie off a filled poop bag before putting it into the Vault; tying it off will trap air in the bag and take up space. The bags made especially for poop (rather than plastic grocery bags) work best. There is no issue with any leakage from not tying off the bag; I just gently wrap or fold the open end around the filled end a couple times and place it in the Vault. The latch is easy to flip open with one hand (even wearing gloves), and it clips very securely and stays closed. The smell stays trapped in the Vault so don't worry about poop vapors wafting out while walking. You really cannot smell anything when the Vault is latched! When I get home, after emptying the Vault, I spray the inside with Lysol and let it air dry before the next walk. I usually use the carabiner to clip it to my pants belt loop and it doesn't bother me while walking; it's very light weight even when filled. You can also use the clip to attach it to a belt. Overall I could not be happier with the Poo Vault and I highly recommend it!

good idea but too heavy and snap on lid is nearly impossible to open. just dropped it and the lid popped up. Not worth the money.

It holds about exactly one bernese mountain dog poop. He usually poops twice during one walk so I wish there was a larger size available. Like other reviews mentioned, it's pretty hard to unlock the latch sometimes. And the lid popped off of mine within a few days which I almost immediately lost. On the plus side, it did a pretty good job of reducing the smell if you made sure to squeeze all the air out of the poo bag (which I had to do to get the poo to fit anyway). And it turns it into a little loaf of poo when you dump it out which I found amusing.

My dog, though small, is quite a prolific pooper. He typically generates 2-3 bags per morning walk. I was carrying 3 smelly bags around with me until we got home, therefore. The poovault changed the task a lot. Put the bag in the poovault, close the lid, and clip it on to your belt. No smell or things to carry. The poovault i received first had a problem with the lid (it fell off very easily) - their wonderful customer service came through and they sent me a new one. Works perfectly. Highly recommended!

I bought this product because of the great reviews. We hike with our dog every morning for several hours and in our neighborhood in the afternoons. My experience with it is that #1, I can still smell the poo through the container. #2, it is very bulky and uncomfortable with the clip on my pants' belt loop and knocks around, worse on my back pack. The clip built in on the back is pretty much worthless. I keep it in my back pack now but it does permeate the contents. I was hoping this was going to be better but at least it holds in MOST of the odor, but not ALL.

Great product especially when you go to a national park and you have to pick up your dog's presente and there is not garbage.
