How is it antimicrobial? Like what properties make it so?

Great question! The answer is silver! Silver is a well-documented antimicrobial agent, so we utilize this by infusing natural silver into the silicone. The proprietary silver and silicone formulation in Sud Scrub allows it to be the only body scrubber that can reduce bacterial growth on its surface by 99.99%!

Does the silver coating dissipate over time? Has it been studied how long the antimicrobial effects last/does it diminish through use?

Yes! Although the product will physically last way you way longer than a year, the silver infused into the product can oxidize/degrade with regular use—meaning that the antimicrobial effectiveness may wane over time. Based on our testing, we recommend that customers replace their Sud Scrub at least once a year to keep optimal performance.

Do you only have to use liquid soap for this or can I use a bar of soap?

Although liquid soap works best with Sud Scrub, you can use it with bar soap as well. To do so, wet the bar soap thoroughly with warm water and generously rub it onto the scrubbing fins before scrubbing your body. Depending on your bar soap, you may need to reapply the bar soap a few times during your shower to get a consistent lather. Hope this helps!

How long does the product last? Usually a year?

Sud Scrub will physically last a lot longer than 1 year. However, we recommend that you replace it once a year to maintain optimal antimicrobial effectiveness, as the silver in the product will naturally degrade over time. Based on our testing, the antimicrobial effectiveness of the silver will start to wane after the 1-year mark.

Not a replacement of loofah

It does help to produce some degree of lather, that does not cover your entire body in one single application of body wash. You end up applying almost the double of the amount of body wash. I would prefer going back to loofahs again.
