When the case of this food showed up and was shelf stable, I was very, very wary of it. My dog has a lot of food allergies but is also a very picky eater. If he is stressed or doesn't like food he will refuse food for days and even weeks. His normal diet is a bit of kibble mixed with fresh food - the kind sold in coolers at pet supply stores or that you order online that shows up frozen. I didn't think a food product that wasn't refrigerated would be fresh enough or palatable enough to get him to actually eat it. I was proven wrong. Opening a packet, it looked and smelled like real human food - white rice mixed with chicken. While this made me feel better about the quality and ingredients, it raised my concerns about whether Waylon (my dog) would eat it. There was a lot of rice visible and when I've made him rice in the past it's been a solid 'absolutely not' from him. Again, I was wrong. I mixed this with his normal ration of kibble and offered it to him and he wolfed it down. Either I'm a terrible rice cook or this food is GOOD. He's been eating it for several days now and has cleaned his plate every time. While he's prone to stomach issues, he's had none. The only thing I noticed is that rice did block him up a bit for a day but he quickly adjusted and got back on his normal schedule. While I wish this had more vegetables in it (like the fresh food from the cooler or mail order), I'm definitely keeping this on his regular diet rotation. It's a game changer for dogs like him that can't or won't tolerate canned food or plain kibble. Not only does he love it, but the fact it is shelf stable until opened makes it easier for when we're camping and can't refrigerate his food all the time. I also love that if we go out of town for a week, I can easily bring a case of it over to his pet-sitter without having to worry if it will go bad. While the price is a little too high to make it a regular go-to for a dog his size (he's an extra large dog of over ninety pounds), it's an amazing option to add variety to his diet and make sure he has fresh food without needing to constantly freeze or refrigerate food.

The ingredient list lists chicken as first ingredient which cannot be true. It’s almost impossible to find pieces of chicken. My dog just through rice all over looking for meat.

Both of my bullies enjoy JFFD. I previously used their frozen meals and this is their first time with the boxed version. I use it as both as stand alone meal and as a topper... Topping helps ease the cost, which is high but worth it as my picky/spoiled dogs really do enjoy this and it gets them interested in their food. I can split a box between two dog (as topper) no problem. The boxed version is nice because you can fold it back closed and keep it refrigerated until their next meal. Smells good and fresh...Like tuna and sticky rice. Has a very sticky consistency.

This has been great food for my dog who has chronic pancreatitis, renal insufficiency and heart failure. It is one of the few things she'll eat. I ordered it online because it was $6.45 instead of $9.95 in store - except when it arrived, the boxes are 12 oz rather than the 18 oz I was buying at the store. Only 2 cents savings per ounce. The Amazon listing did not tell the size of the package

My dog loves it! A really good amount comes in each box I was actually really surprised. No crazy dog poops yet but will update if my dog doesn’t hold it down or has any reaction other than normal. So far I am extremely impressed. Highly recommend!

I ordered this product for my dog because she has been wanting to eat "people food", but for some reason she refuses to eat this JustFoodForDogs branded food. She will hunt out and eat food she shouldn't have including paper, grass, and even chocolate, but she hardly touched this food. I would not call her a picky eater, but it was almost like she senses something is not right with this food and refuses to eat it. I even left it out overnight thinking she may come back and graze on it while we were asleep, but she refused to touch the stuff. The one box I opened for her I ended up throwing out because she just did not want it. I will not be reordering this this product, at least not for my dog.

While the Just Food for Dogs - Balanced Remedy is very pricey ($6.00+ per carton) if my beloved doggo needed a limited ingredient diet to maintain his health, this is the brand I'd turn to. 100% human grade ingredients - one protein source (ground turkey), single starch source (rice), and low-fat levels. Suggested serving size is 1 carton per 20 pounds once a day, you could also use it as a topper over dry kibble as instructed by your veterinarian. Many people do cook their own dog food, but it takes time and adding in the cost of ingredients with inflation, that option may not be as cost effective as it once was - these are points to consider when weighing healthy meal options for your pet. These cartons with a stable shelf life would also be great to have on hand to take when traveling, during kennel boarding or at doggy day care. When I opened the ascetic sealed carton, was very surprised to see that it did not look like regular commercial dog food - it actually looked like a chopped turkey and rice medley that I'd eat myself. No odor or even aroma to speak of and of course my doggo licked his bowl clean and asked for more.

Our dogs are out of food!!!! We need this food ASAP!!!! I ALWAYS BUY AHEAD SO THEY DO NOT RUN OUT, THEY NEED IT NOW!!!! THANK YOU!
