    Another great season

This set includes all twenty-three episodes over five discs of the third season of the brilliant 'Arrow' series. This season, in my opinion, is easily the best that the show has produced so far with some great action, an interesting plot and some good humour throughout the series. As with the previous seasons, there are two separate plots ongoing throughout the series, one in the present and one in the past. The past plotline set in Hong Kong probably isn’t quite as good as the Island plotlines of the previous two seasons but it does have some nice moments including the introduction of Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana. The main plotline in the present however is very interesting as Oliver and his friends continue to fight crime in Starling city only for various forces complicating matters and the League of Assassins gives Oliver his toughest challenges yet. The present storyline also includes a nice subplot involving crime boss Danny "Brick" Brickwell attempts to take over the Glades and this is probably my favourite part of the series. This season includes a lot of very entertaining episodes throughout its run with those involving Brick being some of my favourites, as I have already mentioned. Other than these episodes, some of my favourites include the 'Flash'/'Arrow' crossover episode 'The Brave and the Bold' (that sees the two heroes team up to take on Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang) and 'The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak' (a brilliantly funny episode that reveals some of Felicity’s background as well as involving a rather different version of Brother Eye). On the downside, some of the episodes in the first half of the season are probably a little lacklustre as the seasons tries to find its feet once again with the rather silly episode 'Draw Back Your Bow' (that introduces crazy stalker Carrie Cutter/Cupid) to be less entertaining. The season introduces a number of new DC characters to the show with Ted Grant/Wildcat, Michael Amar/Murmur making appearances alongside those I have already mentioned. The series also introduces Ray Palmer (portrayed brilliantly by Brandon Routh) developing a rather Iron Man inspired A.T.O.M. suit. There League of Assassins also gets a much bigger role this season with Ra's Al-Ghul (played very well by Matt Nable) taking the role of main antagonist for the season as a whole. The acting of all the cast members is as good as in the previous seasons with all the principle and recurring cast giving good performances with my favourites being Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer, Katrina Law as Nyssa Al-Ghul and Vinnie Jones as Brick. The special effects and fight choreography of the series remains good for a TV show with the fights between Oliver and Ra’s being particularly good, as is the fight between Katana and Saraab. There are a few issues here and there however (such as when it is painfully obvious that various swords are blunt) but these are relatively minor issues that can probably be ignored.Overall this was a very entertaining third season for 'Arrow' and I would probably consider it to be a low five star series.
