Great book for my second grader to read on his own!
I purchased this book for my second grader. Sometimes it is hard to tell without seeing a Golden Books whether it is for a 4 year old or an 8 year old. This is appropriate for my second grader to read and comprehend on his own, but not too easy. It has several sentences to a page, instead of one short phrase or sentence like many Golden Books will have. It is accurate and has nice photos as well, and is written as a story. A good basic historically correct book about George Washington for a school age child.

Great introductory book about George Washington with lots of lovely illustrations
I was happy to find that Little Golden Book had introductory books about both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. I picked these up for my grandchildren to read when they are at my house. While my granddaughter is too young (at 2) to sit through the entire reading, my grandson (who is 4) enjoyed hearing the story. Both children liked the illustrations. The book starts with George Washington as a boy, then on to his days in the English military, to the War of Independence, to his days as President and then finally to his retirement (back to the hobbies he enjoyed as a young boy.) There are also some interesting facts listed in the back of the book. All together, I find it a great introductory book about the first President of the United States.

My Little Golden Book About - George Washington
I ordered this to get my homeschooled students ready for the election. It was a good little read but I wish it had included Washington’s DOB & DOD and the years he served as president. I had thumbed through it before reading it out loud but didn’t catch the missing dates and of course the first question was, “How old would he be if he didn’t died?” L age 5. The illustrations were lovely and appropriate to the story and the age of readers, they brought the second question, “What is the name of the man/soldier sitting outside the tent?” I love questions, really I do! 5 year old L was on a roll. This book is excellent for Pre-K up through Grade 1 or 2. If your kids are sharp you might want to do some higher reading to be prepared for their questions. I added the missing dates to the last page, where it shows a drawing of Washington’s Presidential Portrait and states we celebrate his birthday on the 3rd Monday of February. I doubt if this will be most young readers favorite book but it moves at a good pace and kept the interest of my bunch till the end.

Mais fino do que imaginado pela qualidade do papel.
Capa veio um pouco amassada e de material fraco. Mais fino que esperado. Boa história, boas ilustrações.
