This is the holy grail of natural deodorants. Honestly… the holy grail of all deodorant, period. After spending a small fortune trying everything, crystal mineral salt was the only thing that gave me 24+ hours of zero BO and I’m a stressed, hormonal disaster. Even in summer and during workouts during “my time of month” (off the rails hormones and temp regulation), this keeps me totally odor free. The only problem with regular crystal deodorants was having to apply multiple layers because I needed more salt.. The wet stone, the spray, the roll on… multiple layers with drying in between. Unbeatable protection, but seriously annoying. This powdered mineral salt solved that. I either spray my pits a couple times with Thai Crystal Spray first as a primer and then dust this powder on with a kabuki brush, or mix about ½–1 tsp of this powder with a pea sized-ish amount of aloe vera (99% water, so the salt still dissolves and does its thing) and apply that mixture to both of my pits. Both methods get way more salt on my pits in one application. I personally have been preferring the aloe method lately. The kabuki brush method isn’t bad but you need just the right ratio of water and salt so that the salt you dust on still dissolves. Make sure you wash your hands after the aloe method. I’ve been mixing it in my hand and then just using my fingers to rub it on my pits. I do still suggest using a blow dryer or a handheld fan to dry your pits and set the salt for the aloe method. It seems extra, but it’s much faster than standing there with your arms up waiting to air dry and not messing it up. Each pit takes maybe a minute this way. Mine personally take about a minute total to dry with a handheld fan. If you need a lot of salt like I do, you might have a white cast once it first dries. But it will go away when your pits get warm/humid again. The white cast goes away in about 30 to 45 minutes for me. And since I personally use a lot of salt sometimes there’s a couple of minor clumps, I just dust them off once it’s dry. You’ll have to learn how much you personally need. I suggest starting low. Starting low can also help your pits acclimate to tolerate more salt if you are going to need more salt. And too much on a regular basis can dry out your skin. Start low and slowly increase. I’ve tried acids, aluminum, charcoal, creams, sticks, sprays, every natural/aluminum free deodorant active you can think of.. you name it, I tried it. Nothing has performed like this. No yellow stains, no constant reapplying, and if you sweat, you still don’t stink. If you stink, you didn’t use enough salt for your situation or the salt that you put on didn’t dissolve/stick. It also dusts right off clothing. If you’re new to mineral salt, start with a small amount since it can sting freshly shaved or sensitive skin. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea unfortunately either. I shave my armpits gently every day and with the grain and I have no problems with stinging. But I know other people are different. This is my forever deodorant. If it works for my ridiculously difficult pits, I honestly think it’ll work for anyone who tolerates mineral salt. I just wish some smart, crafty Etsy person would see this and turn this into a ready made product because I’d buy it forever. 😆 I also understand why there is no ready made product with a higher concentration of salt already on the market. Higher concentrations of salt lead to issues with crystallization and texture. So these DIY at home methods are the best I’ve been able to come up with to deliver a more salt in one application. And I never have to reapply. Ever. I Hope any of this info can help other people nuke their BO too. And just a separate note, despite the name potassium alum (potassium aluminum sulfate), it’s *not* the same ingredient as the aluminum salts used in traditional antiperspirants (like aluminum chlorohydrate or aluminum zirconium). Mineral salt deodorants work by changing your pit environment and inhibiting odor causing bacteria, they don’t plug your sweat glands or stop you from sweating. If you’re avoiding antiperspirants but still want odor protection, it’s an important distinction. This mineral salt is a naturally occurring mineral you can find in nature. Antiperspirant aluminum salts are synthetic compounds produced from stuff found in nature. I see people freaking out over this fantastic deodorant salt and grouping it in with the other aluminums just because of the scientific name.

I originally bought this for a very specific reason—my daughter's G-tube granuloma—and it has worked amazingly well. If you're a feeding tube parent, you know how frustrating granulomas can be. After trying multiple suggestions, this alum powder was easy to use and helped dry the area out much faster than I expected. We saw noticeable improvement and were able to get the tissue under control without adding another complicated step to our daily routine. A little goes a long way, and the powder was easy to apply. Obviously, always follow your medical team's recommendations, but for our family, this has become one of those products I like having on hand just in case. Not the most exciting thing I've ever purchased, but definitely one of the most useful. Fellow tube-feeding parents will understand why this earned five stars. 💜✨😊

Looked fantastic when I initially saw it!! Packed in a cardboard box with a ziplock bag with the Alum inside and then put into a plastic bubble wrap envelope my package preceded through the United States Postal Service and this is really where the problem began. The Alum found its way out of the ziplock into its packaging box and then out from there into the bubble wrap envelope so that my purchase was in 3 separate locations!!! I don’t know how much product I lost but I am quite disappointed. I was so happy when it arrived so quickly and looking so nice for just some powdered Alum and then the let down. The product itself looks fantastic and I’m sure it’s exactly what it should be. I probably would have ecstatic about this product because all the packaging was really nice in exception that in my opinion some tape across a folded ziplock would have added some security and probably avoided the entire situation!!
