does the gel plate have a smell to it? just wondering if it has a chemical smell to it, or no scent? Many thanks

Gelli plates don't have an odor. Gel Press plates have a sweet, not chemical smell. It is noticeable but I don't mind it. Having used both brands and not found any difference, I would buy Gel Press as it is much cheaper.

This item says 'theme festive'. What does that mean?

I’m unable to see any reference to ‘theme festive’ on this gel plates description, as far as I am aware that would not be relevant to a gel plate. Any theme you want to apply to a design you make on your plate would be applicable to you.

Do you need to use a special gel press brayer with this plate, or can you use any brayer?

You can use any brayer. (rubber roller) Even a rolling pin if you don't have a brayer.

Can I using printmaking inks (Caligo Safewash) on this when doing image transfer?

I don’t know that particular ink, but I have used many other inks on it, including alcohol inks and it works perfectly.
