The Children's Bible in 365 Stories is amongst Lion Publisher's most popular children's books. It contains 365 charming stories from the Bible that are told in child-friendly detail. Mary Batchelor's book includes all of the most loved Bible stories, plus some that you may not have come across before. Children's Bible in 365 Stories also contains special features such as poetry, prophets, New Testament letters and more! There are also delightful illustrations throughout the book that will help children to engage with the stories. The Children's Bible in 365 Stories is a comprehensive book for children which contains features that most children's bibles do not have space for. The book is bright and engaging, with a story for each day of the year! "An imaginative arrangement, preserving the on-going interest of a serial.. The illustrations are excellent. and will hold the listener's eye if the book is being read aloud.. This selection provides a built in continuity which other collections lack." Church Times "Many children's books retell Bible stories. This is one of the best for its factual, sensitive and imaginative approach. The stories are allowed to speak for themselves in a panorama of scripture from Genesis to Revelation, and each is beautifully and imaginatively illustrated. Here is storytelling par excellence, clear, uncomplicated, concise, superlative." Churchman Review: Even atheists like it! - Iโm atheist and I bought this to read with my 7 yo son. My son attends a local non-faith school where they learn about religions, and this approach present Christianity as one religion among many, covering Christianity beyond Christmas in very little detail. This is problematic because not only is Christianity the State religion in the UK it is so much a part of the culture - you cannot hope to understand British history without a full understanding of Western Christianity, just as you cannot underestimate the impact the King James Bible had on English Literature and the turns of phrase many native Brits still use to this day. For this reason I bought this book to read with my son to start building his understanding of the Bible stories, characters and teachings. It is a very lovely book with each story set to a page or two with just enough illustrations to assist the text without distraction from it. As anyone who has actually read the Bible will know, there is much death, destruction and rape etc in the Old Testament. This book presents outlines of the stories with the worst of the gore and horror removed so it is appropriate for young readers. Highly recommend. Review: One of the Best Storybook Bibles! - I bought this for my 7 year old nephew and was so impressed with it that I bought one for myself! Sometimes itโs surprisingly refreshing to just sit down with the Bible and read it from beginning to end and because I never had such a nice Bible as a child, perhaps Iโm making up for lost years! Reading the Bible from cover to cover is normally a mammoth task but is made entirely possible by a clever retelling of events. The story of Godโs character, holiness and love, shine through on every page and itโs condensed storytelling at its best. This Bible captures all the well known (and many lesser known) stories and weaves them into one continuous account of Godโs unfolding plan of salvation for mankind and beyond. The simple narration misses nothing out of the lovely spiritual depth and meaning and it does this better than most story bibles Iโve encountered. The colourful realistic illustrations on every page are a real bonus and help bring it all alive. The language may be more suitable for the slightly older child, probably from ages 7-12 as there are some long words that will need explaining. However, I personally like the fact that it doesnโt dumb the kids down. A beautiful book then, and a real classic that would make a lovely family heirloom; all at a very reasonable price. The only downside..? I was surprised at the lack of presentation page for giving as a gift. It would have been nice to have inscribed the name of my nephew at the front, which would have given the more personal touch. Thatโs a minor gripe though and the only โfaultโ I could find.

Perfect for kids
A really great Bible for younger children. My daughter has grown out of her "my first Bible" which was more for toddlers/pre school. Now she's 8 and needed more depth and a Bible that covered all the stories, this one has lived up to that and she loves it and wants to read one a day to go through it all in a year :)

Wonderfully displayed Bible stories and scenic views
Wonderfully displayed Children's Bible stories, and scenic views. I have no children of this age, therefore I bought it for myself. I was brought up in a Christian environment among 4 sisters and 2 brothers. We were encouraged to read the Bible which in those days did not have pictures like these modern day ones. I thoroughly enjoy reading these transformed and well illustrated Children's Bible offering a story a day for a whole year, (365 days) This is marvelous, each picture tells a story. I love it.

Wonderful text and illustrations
I bought this for bedtime reading for my 2 young boys but soon discovered it was a pleasure to read for myself. I read a lot, particularly history from the ancient world through to the Renaissance and I really enjoyed this very well produced little gem. So, although aimed at children it reads really well from an adult perspective too. I think some people fear reading the bible believing it to be full of surmons but it's actually more a history and psychology book with some dramatic stories. My children are enjoying it too I think :-)

Perfect for reading the story, before you read it in the real Bible.
It tells the story, and then tells where it is found in the bible. I have given these to people to read a story in this book, and then read the story in the real Bible, and a new person will know what is going on. However I do think the Bible is easy to understand anyway without it, but for someone who knows nothing about the Bible it's very helpful to know the basic stories. When I was 19, I picked up an illustrated children's Bible, and then would look at the reference and read it in the real bible. Now I'm 73, and the Bible is still precious to me after reading it for 50 years. Especially in John 6 where Jesus says he that believes in me has everlasting life.
