Installed on 2001 Honda Civic EX 4 Door; D17A2
I ordered this on a Friday with free supersaver shipping, and it arrived in the afternoon of the following Tuesday. It shipped through UPS, and the package went from Tennessee to Wisconsin. The package was a standard Amazon box, and on the inside was paper padding surrounding a K&N box with more paper padding on the inside. There was no damage to any parts or the box, and the entire package was not heavy.I have no experience installing any intakes, but I do work at a service center doing general service work such as tires, oil, batteries, etc., and I do know my car's engine, and how it works. It took about an hour to install, and reading and understanding the instructions prior to the install definitely helped. There may be a couple points where the instructions are a little confusing, but if you understand what each step is working towards, it is easy to figure out. For example, I wasn't really sure what a throttle body plenum was, but I read ahead a little bit and I figured out that to remove the air box, I had to disconnect a stupid rusty hose clamp on my car under the air box that was attached to the throttle body. All that being said, I like this intake. I was looking at cold air intakes, but I like that I do not have to worry about moisture from the ground being sucked into my engine. The filter on this intake sits just to the left of my engine block, so it probably is affected by warm air slightly, but as I understand it, a drop of 10 degrees Fahrenheit will only add a single horsepower. Also, it may be important to note that if a throttle body spacer is also being installed, you may have trouble closing your hood all the way. The intake fit perfectly, and I am glad I didn't buy a tb spacer because that would likely throw off the tight sealed fit of everything. This is the only performance mod on my car at this point (I intend to install exhaust system at some point), and there is almost no noticeable difference in noise when the car starts. In fact, there is almost no noticeable difference in noise or power until the RPMs rise above approximately 4000. This means that driving down a city street, or even going 65 down a freeway, you will not notice almost any extra noise, but hard accelerations are where this product makes the difference (at least for me). If you slam it, it will accelerate at normal sound until your RPMs rise enough to let VTEC kick in (I read this is about 4500). When VTEC kicked in for the first time after I installed this, I thought I was hearing another car! The sound of VTEC is so satisfying with this intake installed. I would describe this sound as a loud hum, but if you don't know what I am talking about, you really have to hear it in person - YouTube videos do not do this sound justice.I have not dyno'd my car, so I cannot confirm the alleged 5 horsepower gain that K&N's dyno chart states. I have been keeping track of my gas mileage for quite a while now, so as soon as I fill up my tank a few times with this intake, I will post the results.I have no complaints with this product at all, but I have just installed it (literally 2 hours before this post will be made). This is a great first-time bolt on mod for someone who wants to turn their A-to-B-mobile into a cruiser; I recommend this to anyone who is curious about when VTEC kicks in, because with this intake, you WILL hear it. My car at low RPMs resembles the conservative "Dr. Jekyll", but when VTEC kicks in, "Mr. Hyde" is let loose. One thing that may be interesting to note is that the instruction sheet called for an allen wrench, but I did not need one at all. I have no idea why they thought i would need one.

Great sound, easy install, quality parts, but no real horsepower gain.
I bought this because the OEM intake on my 2002 Honda Civic was damaged by a shop that was supposed to be changing the air filter. Rather than pay $200+ for a replacement OEM part from the dealer, I thought, "Hey, why not try something aftermarket? How hard can it be?".INSTALL:As it turns out, it was dead easy. I have very limited experience working on cars. I change my own oil and brake pads, that's it. K&N's instructions were all I needed to remove my OEM intake, and install this new one. The pictures are low-resolution and in black and white, so I used the PDF version available on K&N's website, which is much better quality than the printed one included.SOUND:For the most part, the engine sounds as it did before. However, there is a noticeably deeper "snarl" that the engine gets when full throttle is applied. With all stock parts (with the exception of the intake), it doesn't sound bad at all. The closest thing I can compare it to would be the 2010 Accord EX-L's sound. Keep in mind that your results will vary depending on your engine and other mods.POWER GAINS:Power gains were not very noticeable. However to be fair, a 2002 Civic doesn't have much power to begin with. Like I said before, your results will vary depending on your engine.QUALITY OF COMPONENTS:Could not be more satisfied. I have always respected K&N for their quality in air intake systems, and this only renews my trust in their products. Everything is lightweight, strong, and sturdy.

Not a performance product, but looks pretty cool.
After replacing my Honda head gasket I decided that the bulky stock air filter, resonator box, and snorkel tube assembly were just to ugly to re-install, so I ordered this. It fit like a glove, doesn't take up nearly as much room, and exposes all the hose fittings and electrical connectors that were previously hidden under the stock plastic parts. I'm not a racer boy and I virtually never rev my engine to the red-line, where this pipe is supposed to add a couple of horsepower. Basically, I bought this because it's way easier to re-install than the stock plastic bits and it looks cool too.

Better than I expected
This intake exceeded my expectations. After I installed it on my 2001 Civic LX, I noticed about a 5hp gain. It doesn't sound like much, but I can really feel the difference. It gives a noticeable boost when accelerating, especially above 3000rpm. With a stock exhaust, it doesn't really change the sound of the engine much, but it does make it sound slightly more aggressive. Fuel economy is a little better, although I bought it mainly for performance. The installation was more difficult than I expected, although, to be fair, I've never worked much with cars. The instructions were easy to follow, but I had a tough time on a couple steps, especially getting the black hose connected between the intake and throttle body. It took me about 2.5 hours to install, although a professional could probably do it in about 45 minutes. I would highly recommend installing an aftermarket exhaust with this intake to maximize horsepower gains with this part. After putting in a high flow muffler, I noticed an even bigger performance increase and improvement in sound. If you get this intake, you won't be disappointed.

Great product, good price, great installation instructions! Check fitment!!
Great product! Good price! Detailed installation instructions make it a breeze! One big side note if you have a strut mount sway bar it will not fit with this intake!!
