Fisher-Price Handy Hippo Bather

Our family is growing and we found it necessary to replace the last baby bathtub. Our family is finding that fewer bells and whistles on a baby bathtub are an excellent trait. We recently had one of the flashier brands on the market for bathing our son and we ended up with some rusting on the metal frame and a mildew problem on the sling. We choose this model based on the simple features it offers with lots of comfort and support.The Fisher-Price Hippo Bather states on the label that it is for birth to six months with a maximum weight limit of 20 pounds. It consists of a hippo plastic frame with a fabric sling encased in the middle to support baby. The bather is at a gentle incline to continue the support of baby with a raised hippo head at the bottom which is advertised as support to keep baby from slipping. The sling is very comfy but supportive just as it should be. It also offers a plastic hook in the back to hang it with if you so desire.I haven't had any issues with the tub thus far. Do I forsee a mildew problem on the sling as with other models? I think so. It isn't as though the sling is removeable, but this tub is only advertised for 6 months use and it was a bargain--unlike pricey models that claim they are good through toddlerhood and mold even with a removeable, washable sling.This model is an excellent, cute, comfortable, and highly functional piece for little cost. It works for a girl or boy and takes a little of the hassle out of bath time. I wish I'd had one with my first child.

We started bathing our son in the tub rather than the sink this worked perfectly. He isn't cooped up in a plastic tub and can splash and kick. He loves the water. It's pretty low maintenance, as it is small and drips dry. Haven't had any problems keeping it clean. So glad we go this rather than a bigger or more expensive tub.

I bought this because I needed a simple tub to help me bathe my 2 month old. We had a fancy inflatable one and it would not hold water. The price was perfect on this little bath and it fits my needs in every way. I know he will out grow it, but that holds true for most infant baths. I put it in the tub and fill it until the Hippo is about half submerged. That way baby gets to splash and feel the water without it getting in his ears. The Hippo can move a bit in the tub, but it's not like I plan on walking away and leaving baby in it. Also, once done, I shake off the Hippo and hang dry from a towel rack in the shower. Some other posters complained about mold smell, but I have not had this problem. If I do, I will simply spray it down with a water/bleach solution and rinse. If you are looking for a basic little tub to keep your baby safe while bathing, I highly recommend this product.

Terrible product

The picture displayed of the woman bathing the child, shows this model in a kitchen sink. I severely doubt this fits into most peoples sinks. My kitchen in particular has large restaurant sized sinks and there is no way this tub could fit. I had a few concerns about cleaning the mesh covering, but I believe it unscrews on the back to allow for cleaning. I have not yet tried unscrewing it. It has a hook on it allowing it to be hung up. I hang it on my towel rack. I am sure it will also fit on the bathtub curtain rod allowing it to drip dry in a safe place. Overall, it works and for the cheap price of 10 dollars definitely worth the price. Great for newborns:>

My son was 21.5" when he was born, so he was a long baby. I bought this for his grandparent's house when he was 1 month old, but when I went to use it, he was already too long for it. It's cute and seems like it's made well, but I think it's better suited for smaller babies.I left it in a closet for months and I recently pulled it out when we were visiting. Now that he's 9 months, he is able to sit-up on the mesh. I need to hold on to him, but it works for the occasional bath.It's a good price, I just haven't been able to get much use out it.

This bather has been in use for over a year now at my house. It keeps my baby safely out of the water when I need her to be, and fits nicely in my bathtub. I can hang it on my shower curtain to dry and for storage. To me it feels like the baby is more secure in this bather than a conventional baby tub that you fill with water. It is also convenient that you don't have to fill and drain this bather. I would recommend this!

This is a great bath for baby. Have used it since he was 10 days old when the cord fell off. The mesh sinks enough to get him in the water without submersing him completely. The head of the hippo kind of "catches" his butt and keeps him from sliding out. I love the hanger feature for drying out and storing when not in use.

My baby loves the freedom of kicking his legs in the bath and this product allows him to do just that. It's sturdy and easy to use. Delivery was swift. I'm very happy.

My new born son has been enjoying his bather for more than 6 months now ! Got it for less than retail price. Time to look for a bigger bather.

Excellent product sturdy comes in a bright turquoise colour. Used for my granddaughter who is 3 weeks old very easy to wash baby and do hair would recommend.
