Does the urn have shellac finishing?

It has a shiny stained finish so I would say it has either shellac or varnish . Its a very nice wooden urn.

what type of wood is this made with?

it is a very wide-grained (plantation grown?), rather soft wood, stained to the appearance of cherry or maybe teak......not dark enough to appear as walnut.

Can this be engraved by the seller or do I have to get it engraved by a third party? If the seller can engrave the urn, is there an extra cost?
