Perfect for camera's that's IR's die like two of mine.
This device is perfect for what I needed it to do, Basically I had two POE cameras that for some reason after a few months, the night vision stopped working on them and to RMA them it would have costed me more than the camera's were worth so the solution was to give this a shot and it worked well, and in my situation the camera's that failed also had two screw holes on the top of the camera so I was able to mount this on top of the camera so it would shine a direct path, at first I didn't think it would work well but once it got dark out, I found that it works better than the actual camera's IR lights ever did.The only thing I don't like is the power cable, I wish this company would make these POE instead of using a power cord as it would have made the installation better but I can't complain, this IR lights up everything so I can see and detect everything, my camera's motion detect works great with this and all considering I am very happy with this purchase.

After being a pleased Arlo user for a few years
โIn lightโ of recent talk surrounding concerns about night vision abilities of the new Arlo Pro 2 camera, I thought Iโd explore and review a few third-party auxiliary IR lights to supplement the existing illumination already on the camera. After being a pleased Arlo user for a few years, I too found the Arlo 2โs slightly short on night lighting when compared to their predecessors. Before going further, let me make clear that despite of this minor shortcoming, I still prefer the newer Arlo Pro 2โs over the older models given the added features/capabilities that the new Arlo Pro 2 has. And now that I have found a more than adequate solution to fill the void of night lighting, I couldnโt be happier. And by the way, these solutions apply to any of the Arlo cameras for those wanting to augment their night recordings. So, hereโs what I found. What they do:For those unfamiliar with night vision/Infra Red, we are talking about light invisible to the human eye, so not just any light will do. Night vision/IR lights with wavelengths other than 850nm will do little if anything to help the camera at night. It is also notable that these lights are practically invisible to humans/animals. At night, just as you do when the Arlo camera is active, you will see a faint red glow of the LED bulbs, though hardly noticeable a few feet away. Only when looking through the Arlo camera can you see the huge difference of illumination. The hardware:I bought three IR lights from Amazon that match the Arloโs 850nm wavelength. I was also careful to look for the widest-angle lights โ those with a 90 degree โ to capture the most area possible, and the longest distance/most powerful yet keeping the size of the light down to a minimum since ideally these things are going to be mounted right next to the cameras. There were lots to choose from but I narrowed it down to three that represented a small, medium, and large size. I wanted to see how small I could go before losing an effective range of the light. Hereโs what I came up with:Small: Tendelux 80ft IR Illuminator AI4 ($19.65)Medium: Tendelux 120ft IR Illuminator BI8 ($30.65)Large: JC (JCHENG) 131ft IR Illuminator 12-LED ($31.99)Each of the lights have an outdoor rating of IP65 or higher which means they are fine in the rain and even under the pressure of washing. They all draw 1-watt per bulb so the energy pull of each of the three sizes are 4watts, 8watts, and 12-watts. Each one also includes a built-in photocell switch that automatically turns them off during the day. They all come with standard power adapters (which need to be protected from the elements) that are very short, but I prefer it this way since you can Amazon a โCCTV 2.1mm 5.5mmโ extension for the length you need. Something else notable is that the small and medium sized lights (made by Tendelux) have much smaller power adapters than the larger JC unit, likely making them small enough to allow a second plug to fit into a typical outdoor outlet (for those also using power to the camera itself). The test:Using an Arlo Pro 2, I tested each light independently alongside of the camera and below are my results. Conclusion:As you can see, there wasnโt much difference across any of the three. Only when I stepped up to the 12-LED unit did I see slightly more flood that could convince me to use something of that size. I understand that the results will vary depending on factors such as objects within the range of view, but I am satisfied to see that the small unit (AI4) is sufficient for my needs, not just because of its lower price, but more importantly its small size is aesthetically appealing. After all, I already have enough discomfort having cameras around my properties and the thought of added IR lights is about as much as I can handle. Granted, I havenโt had these long enough to witness their longevity and durability but they each seem solid and very well built. Personally, I like the Tendelux brand as the dark lens conceals the LED bulbs, making them more look like a solar charger than a light. So for me, Iโm going with the Tendelux 80ft IR Illuminator AI4!

Worked Great Until It Didn't
Ran it 24/7 for 3 years. Quit working 3 years to the day after I put it into service. Guess I can't complain. It did a very good job of IR illuminating my garage so my security cam could see with the doors shut. Plenty bright enough for a standard 2 car garage. In case anybody's interested, the failure mode was that one LED went open circuit and since they are all 4 in series the whole unit went dark. I'm going to replace all for LEDs now that I've got it opened up and see if I get another 3 years from it.

Perfect for Improving Baby Monitor Night Vision
My wife wanted a baby monitor that did not connect to the internet for safety reasons, so we found one we have really loved (except for the night vision, which was terrible.) This IR light was a game changer! Firstly, I was worried that the red glow it produces would be too bright. Nope. You can barely see the red glow in pitch darkness. However, the IR light it creates is blinding! Like a spot light. I actually positioned the light upward to bounce off the ceiling. This allows the camera on the baby monitor to function clearly. One thing to note- the high amount of IR triggers our Ring Camera to switch into night mode, even when lights are on. Other notes: Easy to connect and set up. No lag/delay. No connectivity issues. Features are simple and work well.

Fantastic for IB Cricket on Meta Quest 3 VR gaming
This made a world of difference when playing at night especially. I like to play at night after work but wife wants to sleep without light. She used to get annoyed because I needed the light for tracking so got this so she'll be quietly sleeping. And this is just perfect. Bought it, faced away from the unit and toward the wall where I face too and the illumination is just perfect with this.I don't have a way to measure it but I do have a night vision camera which showed a huge difference in the dark. The area was super well lit and the Meta Quest 3 was just flawless in tracking.Games in VR just play pitch perfect from Baseball to Cricket (IB Cricket), Golf, All in one Sports to even registering your hands and fingers. This is the best value for money at only $22. Nothing to setup even - just connect the adapters together, plug it in and place it in optimal spot and voila! Fantastic night time gaming.Heck, gaming even in day time is great as the area is well lit. However, during daytime, the camera of Meta Quest 3 picks up the bright window and gets all confused so draw the shades. What is important for perfect tracking is even lighting so it can form sharp edges during its scanning phase with fantastic contrast. And this does just that.Buy it- you won't regret VR gaming with this. Even super fast paced gaming like Cricket or Baseball or Golf where you have to swing fast

Works great for 3 weeks. 2nd unit holding up!
Worked great for 3 weeks, then just stopped. Followed all support troubleshooting suggestions, unplug/reboot, check fuse. Just dead.Nice product, wish it would last a year or two before completely dying.EDIT: Was sent a replacement and this one is functioning well. Changed my 1-star rating to a 5-star

Would like a white color option...
The light works fine and is very bright. Auto dusk/sunrise power on/off works fine. Power draw is 4 watts, about what an interior night light draws. Expect to see 4 red LEDs looking at you at night. The unit really needs to be available in white color. I have it mounted under the eves to illuminate my front porch and the black color sticks out like a sore thumb against a light background; the contrast makes it terribly obvious and draws attention to itself. White (like most security cameras) would blend in with far more typical exterior and interior colors.

Massive increase in image quality
Huge improvement over the built in IR lights of the camera! This is paired with a Wyze Cam V3 and I was frustrated with the bugs that were attracted to the built-in IR lights of the camera, every now and then a spider would cross over the lens, or weโd have mods flying at it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only is this eliminating the bugs because theyโre attracted to this light instead of the camera, but because the camera doesnโt have to amplify the brightness so much, the recorded image quality is vastly improved. This easily illuminates my back yard area covered by the camera. If I could request one modification of the design of not just this, but all of the infrared illuminators being sold is to provide a curved surface. This illuminator has four LEDs in it but theyโre all on a flat plane if they would curve the front left to right and spread the LEDs out this thing could have 120ยฐ or 180ยฐ field of illumination.

using this ir illuminator for my oculus rift s
happy with my purchase. it really works to play in a dark using oculus rift s. i am really satisfied.update: noticed that the ir illuminator facing upwards towards the ceiling is highly effective to play vr gaming in the dark. no tracking issues or whatsoever. i think the infrared light is spread the whole game area so that's why i don't get tracking issues. the only problem is its getting warm after a few hours of gaming session.

Great product for VR!
Im using it for vr and not for cameras so this review is for vr usage. Its a bit smaller then I thought but it works perfectly fine vr tracing seems to be more accurate and losing tracing on my quest 3 has became a rare occasion. I gotta test more to make sureEdit: Yeah after testing more my quest 3 loses tracking less often in the dark. This is a must have for gaming in a dark room. I only lost tracking like one time yesterday.

Works well out of the box
I was pleasantly surprised at how well this worked! I have a security camera (Dahua wired IP dome camera) on the back deck, then installed a wallfan nearby. The white fan seemed to reflect the IR on the camera, which reduced visibility to almost nil. Purchased this IR Illuminator, it is literally "plug and play": I set it on a table about 8 feet away from the camera, pointed it in the same direction as the camera, and it's like someone flipped on a flashlight! Deck is about 30 feet (see before/after pictures). I will experiment with the best position for the IR Illuminator, but first impression is quite positive. We will see how well it stands up to winter in Canada! Only downside is that placement is limited to nearness of a standard household plug. Not an issue in my case, but might be problematic for some.

It works good
It really helps my camera see a bigger area than the camera can on its own

It lit up my entire driveway - works great!
Gives a nice even light - no spot lighting.
