I have a GoPro hero 10 and I bought this camera just to have for personal use. I really don’t know a great deal about cameras and all the technical terms and functions but I do know a little just from using the GoPros that I have had in the past and I can say for the money this camera is worth the money. In a side by side comparison of the Hero 10 and this unit the quality of video is greater from the GoPro there is no denying that but when you compare it $ for $ and look at what you get with this unit and all the extras that you need to buy with the GoPro if you want for example better audio by connecting a shotgun mic or wireless mics then you need the media mod for the GoPro, where as with this unit I was able to connect a wired mic to the USB-C port using a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter one that would typically allow you to connect wired headphones to a USB-C type smartphone. That being said I have a set of wireless mics that allow for the mics to be set into slave and master modes and then I connect the master into the adapter and then to the camera and I was able to enhance the sound. I usually record mostly in 1080 HD for a couple of reason because 1) I record with my GoPro at the same time and I record with my GoPro at 5K and 5K takes up a lot more space than 1080p on a disk or streaming them from my server to my devices it takes longer to load or download etc. 2) The AKASO doesn’t really shoot in 4K in my opinion because the clarity is just not there if you look at the side by side with an actual 4K video from the GoPro it’s not even comparable. This would be my only criticism of the unit but it isn’t a deal breaker for me and it may in fact shoot at 4k but maybe it is the FPS like I said I am not an expert with cameras I’m a layman so my reasoning my be off but the quality is nevertheless in the favor of the GoPro. I do like how the camera comes with 2 batteries and a charging bank that’s nice it has many of tripod accessories and mounting hardware adapters, I also personally love how the camera will record and not stop until it either runs out of battery or you shut it off. The camera is a bit light in weight but it has proven rather durable because my 2-3 year old has gotten ahold of it many times over the last year and he is hard on anything this camera being no exception but it has had no problems and I can’t say the same for my GoPro it is in fact no longer functioning as the camera had some type of short circuit or something to that effect involving the battery and it died so the AKASO has outlived my hero 10 and the hero 10 never had any contact with the baby so I don’t know what happened with it but the AKASO has been solid.

Update: I used this on a week long motorcycle trip. I was easily able to use the included accessories with a small additional purchase to mount the camera to my helmet. The battery life was as listed/expected. Having two batteries was great as I was able to swap back and forth to record the entire trip. Starting the camera each time was simple and fast. Video was clear and stable. Wishlist: The ability to copy data from the camera to my phone via USB. Old: I have not used the camera yet but will be using it while on a motorcycle and will update this review once I have. Initial experience: the product feels high quality for the price. The accessory bundle it comes with is GREAT and the initial set up has been easy (though I am a tech oriented person).

Overall, for my first action cam I think the price makes it acceptable. Image quality is great. Ease of use once you learn is straight forward. During initial setup looking for the version number, the camera completely locked up . Had to remove battery to get it functioning again. It has been operating fine since.

This is great for getting started. The video and camera quality are awesome. All the accessories in this kit are very good quality, they don't feel like the cheap chinese stuff. So far my batteries have lasted a very long time. The audio is great and picks up everything. All of the locks are super stabil and give you trust that the camera is going to stay exactly where you set it. Connecting to the camera and app was easy. I haven't paid attention to the autofocus feature yet, but that's probable cause the picture quality is so good I didn't even notice the function working.

I love the camera with simple, easy to use. Great battery life and Video haven't really used it for pictures. I mainly use it for commuting on a e-bike. Only issue that I've had with it is the Wi-Fi function, but when I'm using it while bicycling I don't see the need to use it. All there mounts or brackets if you will or firm and secure camera doesn't move at all. Audio quality is great. I can be speaking while having the wind blow and you can still hear me clearly. I haven't dropped it yet so I'm not too sure about the durability but the case seems so high quality plastic. And it also has a great rubber seal when you close. It definitely makes a waterproof seal.

I will preface this with that I use it for autocross. I am not willing to mount my iPhone on the outside of the car and I looked into this style of camera to see what I wanted to do. I originally thought about a GoPro, but price is one thing, but if it ever gets knocked off and run over... I will be upset, but I can live with it. I had previously bought a EK7000 on a Lightning Deal which I also use and then saw this Brave 4 on a Lightning Deal... and I could not resist. I had used it for the first time this weekend, and I use it with a RAM suction cup mount that I affix to the rear window looking forward so I can see the left front tire and the steering wheel. It worked great considering I ran it without the case and I should have played with the picture quality versus frames per second--- I used the 4k resolution which is 24 FPS if I recall correctly... it was very clear and as expected you can see the slower frame rate. So I am going to try another setting and see how it changes the overall picture quality versus smoothness. But all in all it was really clear and exceeded what I was expecting it to produce. I manually started the camera with the top button.... for whatever reason I have put the remote somewhere I can't find it...with that, it has a red dot on the screen on the back to tell it is running--- honestly it lets me set it and forget it as I know it is running. Sound. That is where I expected it to falter and it did. Wind noise was prevalent and masked a good bit of other sounds I wanted to hear. With that said, I may try the plastic case with the vented back to see how that works to cut back on wind noise. I have used a $1000 race camera before and audio was not any better... so I cannot fault the Brave 4 one bit. You also have to remember that I am running with it on the outside of the car at 20-60mph... so some wind noise is definitely expected! Startup, etc. It is fast to start up and shut down. This is good as it is a great tool to have, but, I cannot stand fussing with it to get it to work before a run---and it is a champ at starting and being ready within a few seconds. I have it setup to never shut off and to loop video. All works great. I have also figured out (as a typical guy) how to work it without using instructions and it is great to use the rear screen to step through a run to review and see where I may have made a mistake or as I found out how unbelievably close to cones I really do come to them...in a great way! Battery... so this is where I am up in the air. As I said, first weekend with it and I used it to record a total of 10-runs that are about 2-4 min long depending on when I start it and then get in the car. I had charged the batteries the day before so I was ready to go. I have to really see how long it will last as after 6-runs the battery indicated it was at 30%... I changed the battery and finished out the day. Would have it made it? I am not sure. would I like to see it last longer? Yes, but again I have to keep in mind that for what I paid versus what it does.... this is not a problem or deal breaker at all and it *does* come with the two batteries, so for me when it gets down to 1/3 battery on the display... I will just swap it out and not worry about it. I will also say that the camera was on-- display and all for close to 45-min to an hour so with that idle time added in, I am happy with it. I am very pleased and look forward to using it more this season!

I purchased this for last ski season but never got to use it. I finally used it for the first time this ski season this past week. All in all, it performed very well, albeit with a few notable problems. First, the good: - The video quality appears excellent. I did not record at full 4k yet, instead opting for slightly smaller files with 2560x1440 resolution. Nonetheless, the video footage captured looks very detailed and sharp, and the colors look very good; the wide dynamic range appears to work well, capturing detail in shadows as well as the bright areas on a sunny ski slope with hard shadows just as effectively as on overcast days with very little available dynamic contrast. - Wifi is a nice feature for dynamically viewing the camera's feed. - There is a very nice assortment of different mounts to help in achieving the right mounting configuration. - The files captured without any flaws that I've noticed so far; no dropped frames or other anomalies, and with no corruption of any kind preventing playback on either the camera or my computer. Now, the not-so-good: - The included pair of batteries don't last long. Additionally, one of the two batteries inflated its case on its first charge. The included charger also does not turn off the lights when the batteries have reached what I presume to be full charge. I had to simply time them, and upon jostling the charger or removal+reinsertion of the batteries, the light would then change from red to blue. The inflated battery is a safety risk, and barely fit in the camera, but since it was my only choice, I did go ahead and use it, and was able to at least get a bit more footage than if I only relied on the non-inflated battery pack. - It's a pain to start and stop the video with confidence. The included wrist strap controller has a strap that is too short to be worn over gloves or a coat, and the one that came with my set appears to be non-functional anyway. The battery was nearly dead the first time I used it, but even after swapping with a fresh, identical-type battery, the wrist strap didn't work for me at all once I was on the ski slopes; I simply left it at the hotel the remainder of my ski trip. This meant I had to remove my helmet (where I had mounted the camera) to view the screen and ensure I had successfully started the video for each run. - Photos had excessive compression or something; I only tried taking actual photographs with this camera a couple of times, but both images came out looking extremely pixelated and with visible artifacts. I would not rely on this for any sort of print-quality photos. - While I listed the wifi feature in the "good" list above, it was also bad, as it was a pain to use. I had hoped I'd be able to check via my phone quickly to ensure I had the camera angled correctly, but switching the wifi on to do so was so cumbersome that I didn't bother. Also, the wifi is extremely slow for transferring the video. Obviously not the ideal way to transfer the large files, but I had forgotten my card reader and figured I'd try doing it wirelessly. It took an hour to transfer about 3 GB. Obviously it's running with a pretty slow wifi protocol. - It was difficult to reliably stop and turn off the camera without looking at it. Hitting either the power or video start/stop button once only illuminates the screen. I found I had to hit the button once, then press and hold the power button again to actually succeed at turning the camera off to save battery during the ski lift rides where I didn't dare remove my helmet. - Some of the included mounts have insufficient-length screw handles, such that the screw handle itself impacted the bottom of the camera case while trying to tighten it. Also, the mount I decided to use with my helmet-mounted clip did not stay as snug in the clip as I would have expected, so there was some movement in it. Luckily it didn't cause too much jitter in my video as my helmet wasn't vibrating that much due to the shock absorption provided by my neck ;) - It would be nice if a curved mounting clip were included; I purchased one separately to affix to my helmet. - All the footage I took on my 3rd and 4th days of my trip had date modified stamps on the files for the year 2000; somehow, my settings on the camera had been lost. I don't know if it was because my batteries died too early in the day during day 2, or because perhaps I left the batteries out of the camera too long while charging both simultaneously that evening. Either way, it would be nice if the chosen date/time settings would not have been lost so easily. At least it didn't appear to lose my other settings. - The screen interface was a bit busy, and I had a little difficulty easily seeing that I'd successfully started the video recording on the first day; I mistakenly thought the constant ticking clock on the lower right was the indicator that the video was running, when it was actually another clock that is in the upper right corner. I'm not sure why the current time (what I realized was counting by, to the second, in the lower right corner) is even shown on the interface at all; it seems unnecessary and distracting. I know I have far more negatives than positives, but, other than the blown-up battery and the non-functional wrist remote, most everything is minor and, in my opinion, not a show-stopper when you're looking to buy a more budget-friendly camera such as this one. The overall price/performance is very good. Hopefully my experience with the blown up battery from the get-go and the dysfunctional remote is not common.

Incredible value for the money. Great quality videos, acceptable photos, fully waterproof, good menu, plenty of accessories. ** Amazon compressed the video. It looks awesome on my computer ** Why did I choose the Akaso Brave? 1. Akaso has a better website (and hopefully support/warranty) compared other action cams I see on Amazon. 2. Olympus Tough TG-5 (amazing camera) was outside my budget. 3. GoPro Hero was way outside my budget. 4. Most waterproof cameras under $400 are mixed with bad reviews indicating leakage. This camera is with me & the wife right now in Hawaii celebrating our ten year anniversary! It has done a great job across several hours of salt water snorkeling, exploring beautiful pools, and adventuring in bamboo forests. The wireless was relatively straightforward so I could transfer the photos and videos to my iPhone easily. Here's some extra stuff I bought: 1. Flow by microJib ... floating, extendable handle. Worth every penny. Best one I could find. https://www.amazon.com/Flow-MicroJib-Waterproof-Extendable-Floating/dp/B01MXHWWUA 2. Shoot waterproof diving light (works great; I have not submerged more than 5 feet underwater) 3. Samsung EVO 32GB microSD 4. Tekcam waterproof case (an extra, just in case, have not yet tested) 5. Extra batteries (two original batteries have each given me about 40 minutes of good use so far, so I have not tested new batteries) When I need it handy, I store the Flow handle, my flash, and action cam (all connected ready to go) inside of two big socks. What don't I like about this camera? 1. No lens protector :( so be careful to store your plastic waterproof case in a sock! 2. No ability to buy extra cases from the manufacturer (had to by 3rd party). 3. Included Remote control is not waterproof/submersible; there is no way to buy replacements from manufacturer. 4. Not quite the same quality as GoPro or Olympus TG-5 (but close for most people, and costs much less). 5. Photos: not nearly the same quality as iPhone or Samsung Android, but still acceptable. 6. Less support, no user manual, etc. Here are some tips (for most people): 1. See my attached photo for how to insert microSD. 2. The screen will shut off to save battery. Tap the down button to turn it back on. (when snorkeling, for example) 3. When in video recording mode, tap the down arrow to turn microphone on or off. 4. In the menu, 1080 30 fps is a great high-quality video choice. 5. In the menu, 5M or 8M will be decent for images/photos, for most people. (Larger values increase the storage size & print size). 6. In the menu, turn OFF the loop recording, date stamp, motion detection, and beep sound. (for most people) 7. In the menu, set Auto Off to 10 minutes (for snorkeling/ adventuring). 8. In the menu, set Quality to fine. 9. In the menu, play around with Angle. Wider angles can be more fisheye for objects on the edge, but wide is great for snorkeling. 10. Yes you CAN delete photos/videos from the preview mode on screen. Hold the up arrow and push the enter button on top; you will be prompted what to delete. Overall I am super super pleased. Incredible value, easy to use. Great videos and acceptable photos. Lots of features and accessories. This review is sincere. If the action cam disappoints in the future, I'll update my review.

I wanted a little waterproof video camera to record video and take photos on my motorbike. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but wanted semi-decent video and images. So far this little beauty has exceeded my expectations. I'm a bit of a geek by nature and film a lot of videos (underwater), so I have a fair idea of what is good and what is not... I've had the camera for a few days now and my initial impressions are: - Quality seems excellent. I really only need to shoot in 1080p (4K is really too large for most purposes) and having 60fps is desirable, the right boxes are ticked already. - Video stabilization is essential on the motorbike, and this little camera does an excellent job with the footage. - The remote control is very useful and functional. I've attached it to the handle-bars, so I can easily stop and start recording video...PLUS, if you are recording video, you can hit the photo button on the remote and it takes a 20MP photo without interrupting the video. This is so useful for taking quick pictures of lovely scenes and still get the video you want - The camera has loads of different functions, so easy to change resolution, go to Underwater Mode, take burst shots, loop your video and take time-lapse (see example video) - It comes with a large range of including mounting options and accessories. I've easily attached it to my motorbike, securely, without having to purchase anything additional - It comes with two batteries and a charger that charges both batteries at the same time I honestly can't believe how good value this is, highly recommended,

The video quality is exceptional over all the resolutions; however the picture quality is not up to the mark and consists of a lot of grains . Would rate this cam 8/10
