DAS Terracotta Air-Hardening 500g Modelling Clay, For Professionals & Hobbyists

Well if DaVinci could sculpt snails and sharks he might match my genius using this stuff which, it seems I have a talent for. At least that's what my grandchildren think anyway. Given the current situation my wife and I do our bit with our six year old grandchildren and when they come over and visit we make the effort to do something a bit 'old school' and hands on. This time we decided that modelling clay would be a good occupier of time and hands and it proved to by thus. Now, when dealing with six year olds one has to accept that there may be a fair bit of commissioning involved and that certainly proved to be the case with us with the small people in our lives requesting ever more complicated works of art. Well I gave it my best shot and managed a very good snail, a passable shark and a somewhat down at heel tyrannosaurus rex. I made sure it was a joint effort with my grandchildren making up various sausages to be formed collectively into various shapes. When we finished we had a collection of perhaps less than able animals but had used up quite some time together discussing and working on these art works. That's worth quite a bit I'd say and it's nice to see that even in these computer dominated times children can still get something from basic craft materials and a bit of help and time. To use it's easy. Just open the bag, cut off what you need and once you have kneaded it a bit to make it more pliable for moulding and forming off you go. It's water soluable so when joining or smoothing a little bit applied helps it out. Once the masterpiece is made all you have to do is leave it out to air dry which, it does in a couple of days in a warm environment. As it's water soluable it's easy to wash up afterwards with no manky stuff on one's hands. I'm not quite sure that would be the case on nice soft furnishings so best make sure wherever this is used is wipe down. Overall a great craft product even if you are a serious modeller or sculptor making genuinely good art.

Dries quickly and evenly. Definitely my go to product when my daughter is in creative mode!

I accidently bought the wrong colour when I bought this, but I used it any way as I only noticed that once I had opened it! It was easy to mould, dried fine and I managed to do what I wanted to, but I really do wish it was white! I think that would have looked better for what I wanted. But this was nice to work with.

I absolutely loved using this terracotta air-dry clay for my artwork. The clay is very soft, smooth, and easy to shape, which makes it perfect for beginners as well as experienced artists. It does not stick to the hands too much and is very comfortable to work with. One of the best things about this clay is that it dries naturally without needing a kiln or oven. After drying, it becomes strong and sturdy. Absolutely value for money, fun activity for kids and couples, and mess free!! Really loved it :)

I needed some bricks for my class as we were using The Three Little Pigs story. I didn’t want real ones as they were too heavy for my 5 year old class and ready made small ones were too expensive. So I hit on the idea of making some. Das was perfect for the job. I cut it into little brick sizes and moulded to look like bricks. They were well received by my class and I am currently using them again a year on so they have lasted very well. I made them after school one day, left them on a board near the heater and some were ready by the next day but I left them an extra day to be sure as they needed to be resilient with 5 classes of 5/6 year olds coming into contact with them! None have broken so far.

I bought this clay for a weekend craft project with my kids, and it exceeded my expectations. It’s soft, smooth, and very forgiving — perfect for both beginners and experienced creators. Pros: • Soft texture, easy to mold • Doesn’t dry out too quickly while working • Holds fine details well • Minimal cracking after drying • Safe and non-toxic — no strong odour Cons: • Can be a bit sticky without a silicone mat • Slight colour fade after drying (if not sealed)

Finding this much less workable than either real clay or Sculpey or Fimo. It's crumbly and if you moisten it it goes slimy. What I do like is that once it dries you can sculpt it easily with a penknife.

First one came in with a small tear in the bag. Which made the clay around the year hard. Company immediately replaced the clay and now I am happy with this purchase as well as with the customer service.
