I've just recieved this and it has a very gritty consistency. Is this normal as the normal flexitol heel balm I've had in the past has been smooth?

It is ever so slightly gritty. It was suggested to me by my Chiropodist for the skin on my big toe and I am pleased to say things cleared up quite rapidly. However if it is very gritty as you say I suggest you return it to the manufacturer and see what they have to say about. It may be a particularly rough batch. They may suggest you return it to them direct and they replace it.

Is this vegan/ tested on animals?

Thank you for your enquiry, this product contains lanolin (wool fat) which is animal originated. I can confirm that the Flexitol range and ingredients have not been tested on animals, we hope this is helpful.
