Good quality, easy to use and effective
One of many Owltra purchases. This one can be kept outside. They work great and are pet safe. No need to touch rodents. Batteries last a very long time. They are easy to bait and keep clean.

31 rats and counting!
This baby does the trick. I tried several humane options that all failed. Then I turned to this trap. I've been using it at least 2-3 years and my rat tally is currently 31. Wow. Unfortunately it did kill one bird, a wren. After that I became more mindful of its placement. Initially I used it in a garden so I made sure there was overgrowth in front of the opening to prevent another bird from perishing. Now I have it under a board on my deck. The fact that it beeps when it's done its job is very helpful. I've learned that there's always a tail sticking out of the trap too. I have recommended this trap to several people.

Finally something the clever mice can't defeat!
I have a TNR feral cat I feed outside. Mice have been setting off my security cameras eating his food. They are quite brazen and are taunty me throughout the night. Yes, the cat has been guilty of dereliction of his duties. And to think he gets such great food and treats. Goof! Oh I guess that he is playing cat and mouse.I tried wooden snap traps and fancy nasty looking snap traps. No mice and no bait the next morning!Several snapped fingers later, I decided to research cat safe humane mouse traps.I want to kill them fast not torture them. So, no poison or sticky traps for these mice. After many hours of researching devices that quickly electrocute the mice came out winners. I was thrilled to find this device that can be used outside. Others I found were inside only. This takes 4 D batteries not included so you may want to get batteries at the same time you order this device or use the USB connecting inside to charge it. It arrived the next day in time for evening use. There are instructions to put it together. At first, I thought it might be too much to take the batteries out and disemble it to get the dead mouse out each time. I used to throw the mouse and trap in the trash. I actually find it is fast and easy to empty and reset the device. I wear nonlatex gloves to be sanitary with the dead mice. There is a green light that indicates the device is active. The green light flashes and a beep sounds when a mouse is caught.I put the device outside that night and checked it 2 hours later. Success the light was flashing. One fat mouse was dead inside. And the bait was gone. Now, I wonder did another mouse go inside and crawl over the dead mouse to eat the bait? The dead mouse was facing the bait so it had not eaten it. Ruthless mouse! The bait I use is peanut butter and it goes into a well at the front of the device. On the other end is an entryway for the mouse. The mouse sets off a lethal charge as it enters and steps on metal plates. It seems fast. At least faster than getting trapped and not dieing quickly or having a cat play with it then eat it. I have gotten a mouse every night since. I can see and hear on my security cameras when a mouse has been caught/killed. I try not to watch the mouse enter and not come back out.I recommend this device. I may purchase another as I live by mountains with plenty of mice. I will never completely get rid out the mice. If they don't taunt me and they stay out of the house we can coexist. Apparently the cat thinks this way too!Edit - 4 mice down. I am experiencing challenges removing the battery cover. I find it difficult to remove now. The green light is not blinking nor is the beep sounding to alert me that a mouse has been inside.I returned the device due to this malfunction. Fortunately I have not had any mice taunty me again.During the Amazon spring sale this device was discounted. I have purchased another and hope it does not malfunction. I shall update this review after receiving and using the new device.Even given the malfunction I have cautiously recommended this device to friends. We rarely get rain so I may try the cheaper ones without covers if needed in the future and the new device does not malfunction .

Great Rat Trap!
This trap works! Our chicken quality scratch has worked great for bait...13 down since we bought these a month ago. No mess... no fuss. No danger to our pets. We use a grabber to remove them from the trap, which beeps when it's caught one.

Best rat/mouse trap, ever! Worth every penny!
Previously, I was only accustomed to the traditional rat/mouse traps. The ones you have to be careful not to smash your fingers in! Our pest control guy uses the traditional traps and the bait boxes with the sticky pads. Not having dealt with a lot of rats, at least ones in the main living areas of my home, I wasn't certain about the best way to "erraticate" the pesky rodent(s). Sure, there are your typical rats/mice in the garage and crawspace, etc. Our pest guy typically addressed those "ratskills". Those traps are ok in those areas. Out of sight, out of mind, right? But, we had one enter our domain, and that was not cool at all! I wondered...what's the best solution? An electonic mouse trap? I must admit that I was a little skeptical when I purchased this, considering the price. Would it be just a gimmick? I questioned whether it was cheaply built, and whether or not it would really work. However, when it arrived, I found that it was constructed way better than I had expected. I was actually impressed! But, I still wondered if it would work. Well, that question was answered literally overnight! After setting it up the afternoon it arrived, the very next morning, the result was in! Sorry, Mr Rat! The governor granted no clemency for you!About the product: It is very simple to use. It takes 4 D-cell batteries, or you can use the included USB-C power cable (wall wart not included, but, hey, just use one of your extra USB-A phone plug you have laying around like I did). I used a small dab of peanut butter in the bait tray. Put the lid on. Power it on and set it against the wall in the area where you saw the little critter, or evidence of their activity. It has a light that flashes and a buzzer that beeps when one has been caught. When that happens, they are done! To empty it, you just turn the power switch to off. Open the top (the top comes off easily - not in a bad way, easily) and dump out the critter in the waste bin, or, you can have a proper burial if you should so desire! You do you! It's really that simple! In summary, it's a very effective product. Easy to use. We'll built. Great features for what it is. Much nicer than the Victor product I purchased at my local big box store, and it was less expensive. I believe it's a great investment and I will probably buy more of these to monitor other areas of my home. I highly recommend this product to others! Now, let's see if he has any relatives!Hope this was helpful. Have a blessed rest of your day!

PIED PIPER IS HERE
Best Trap EVER... what goes in, never comes out alive, never even get to enjoy the bait! Long use in battery life! RODENTS ARE DOOMED! I use only outdoors, before rodents have a chance to damage vehicles. Weather deteriorates old fashion spring traps, OWLTRA wipes clean and looks brand new.

Almost perfect
Recently have been noticing some rats in the backyard. I bought a snap trap that said it was humane, but it wasn’t killing the rats immediately and they were suffering. So, I tried to find an outdoor electric rat trap. There seem to be 2 on the market. One made by the big guys, and this one.First off, the good:1 - it kills rats. In the week it’s been out, I have caught one or two a day. They have been killed almost immediately2 - it’s easy to clean. It’s a tiny bit awkward to get the top off, but once that is done, you just dump them out3- the batteries seem to last longer then a previous indoor one I had4 - it is water proof. I have had it out in the rain. It’s against a wall, it’s a bit protected, but still gets wet. Once when it got really wet, I took the pieces apart and left it on the covered porch to dryThe bad:1 - it seems to only work with smaller rats. With the snap trap I caught a couple of really big ones. Everyone here has been relatively small. I think it’s the size of the unit.2 - I wish the bait station was a bit different. I am using peanut butter. If i put it right in, it’s hard to clean. So I have been putting it in a bottle cap. But, that makes it more difficult when I am disposing of a rat. Also, it attracts a lot of ants. My ideal solution would be to make the space bigger (maybe twice as wide as it is now). I would like it fill it with water, and have the peanut butter in the middle. Hopefully this would still attract the rats but prevent the ants.3- when it kills a rat, the unit beeps and flashes. I find the beeping is really, really annoying, and the flashing isn’t really visual enough. Something like a little red light on the top (that stays on) would be interesting.Overall, very happy with the product. I would recommend it and will probably buy another one.EDIT - Today, I was checking the trap. When I put the lid on, I think a piece of grass got caught in it and it started "zapping". I stupidly touched the top, thinking I would seperate them and it would stop zapping. And, I got zapped! So, I guess don't touch the unit if it's zapping. Let it finish.

Very convenient and effective
I live in a wooded housing development. This product has been exceptional for my purposes, In the last year it has protected my home from mice. In order to save the precious chipmunks and squirrels I place a few rocks around the door entrance of the unit and on top of it to hold the unit in place. The product is a bit pricey, but it works well and I find it to be easy to use. Its very convenient feature is the beeping light when a critter is caught and when the battery is low.

NO SIRVE
Lleva días y no cae nada, solo veo a los ratones pasear por mi casa. La trampa aparece sin cebo 🪤 pero ningún roedor 🐁🐀 en ella

Excellent trap! Minor flaw causes the odd fail but is easily fixed
I love this trap!Excellent quality. Excellent materials. Excellent fit and finish. It has a good design but with a minor flaw.I've been using this trap for about two months now and have caught over twenty mice. That's an excellent result compared to the previous family trap we used. I highly recommend this trap. Also this is the cleanest, quickest killing trap ever. The animal dies very quickly and humanely. Cleaning the trap takes only a few seconds as long as I use seeds or nuts. I never use peanut butter. The two pictures I uploaded show the trap from above with the top removed. The entrance into the trap is a three inch square hole at the bottom left side of the picture. The bait is at the top of the picture. The mouse/rat enters at the bottom and moves up to the bait at the top. It must touch two separate pieces of metal to trigger the trap. The first pic shows the flaw: the single strip of metal that runs up the right hand side of the trap all the way to the bait. If a mouse stays on that single piece of metal and does NOT step off onto another piece of metal the trap will fail. The mouse will not receive the shock intended for it. The mouse must be on two separate pieces of metal to receive the shock.Fortunately I realized this was happening because the trap alarm was sounding on two different occasions indicating it had been triggered but nothing was in the trap and the bait (sunflower seeds) was all gone. It had killed about a dozen mice by this time so it was clearly working most of the time. The second picture shows the solution - a small block of wood about one inch by one inch by two or three inches long. The block simply covers a portion of the single run of metal on the right side, forcing the mouse to step off onto a second piece of metal in order to enter/exit the trap. I've had no failures since I installed that block of wood. The manufacturer is probably already aware of this flaw and added a small wing somewhere on the right hand side of the trap to force mice to step off that one piece of metal. I doubt this is a problem with rats since they are so much bigger. Please note that you should NOT use anything that conducts electricity or you could destroy the electronics when a shock is triggered. I'm not sure about that and I don't want to experiment to find out. Just be sure to avoid putting anything metal inside that trap.Wood or plastic are best.I have no idea how well this trap works with rats as we seem to have none here in Alberta, Canada, probably because the provincial government maintains rat traps at all borders. I've lived here about fifty years and I've never seen a rat in this province. The support for a USB power supply is truly awesome and saves the user all the problems one has with batteries going dead, cold weather, etc. It does mean the trap needs to be near a power outlet unless you actually want to deal with batteries and their continuous, never-ending problems and safety issues.I tend to avoid the use of batteries when not absolutely needed.Happy trapping :)
