The OmniShelf Magnetic Portable Workstation + Toolbox, Computer & Laptop Stand, Multimeter Case, Utility Shelf w/ 50 lb Capacity, Hands Free Workstation Attaches to HVAC, Trucks & More (5 Count)

I've had the case a year and a half and am very happy with it. The bad - (1) Expensive. (2) Had a magnet come out of the metal cup and stayed stuck to the metal door I mounted the workstation to (after 1 year of use). Adding super glue to the magnets in their metal cups kept them in their mounts. (3) Laptop bounces around when it is the only thing in the case and could benefit from additional padding. For the money, you would expect additional foam to be provided. I keep 2 composition notebooks in the case with the laptop and that keeps the laptop from flopping around. The notebooks also provide my laptop with the clearance it needs to access my USB and Ethernet ports without the cables resting on the sidewall of the workstation. The good - (1) Case is sturdy. (2) Magnets are very strong. I am able to put more weight on it than I expected without slipping. A deliberate jerk is required to unmount the workstation. (3) Ease of use/looks professional. Customers compliment the workstation frequently for how ergonomic it makes my work area while using a laptop. Overall - I can depend on this to make my work environment neater and more comfortable when using a laptop is required in an industrial setting. Stowing a couple composition notebooks inside provides a tighter fit for my laptop. Improvements - Shipping the workstation with additional padding would be an improvement to the value. If the bottom tray was shallower and the top tray was deeper then I would have less stress on my USB and Ethernet ports when connected while maintaining stowable space. Even if they just cut lower on the sides, that would be the biggest improvement for me.

I had been looking at the OmniShelf for quite a while before finally purchasing one, and I’m glad I did. I’m using it in my garage to keep a computer conveniently located near my tools, and it works great for exactly what I wanted. What impressed me even more was the customer service. One of the magnets on mine was slightly off-center, which caused an issue installing the rubber protective ring. I reached out to the company, and they responded within just a few hours, apologized for the issue, and immediately sent out a replacement magnet and cover—no hassle at all. There are plenty of cheaper copycat versions out there, but I’d encourage people to buy the real OmniShelf instead. You’re supporting a U.S.-based small business that actually stands behind its product and takes care of its customers when something goes wrong. The OmniShelf is a clever, useful product, and based on both the product and the service I received, I would definitely recommend it.

Update 7/1/23: Very happy with the Omnishelf! Raising my review to 5 stars after using it daily. I love how compact this is in the field as it allows me to eliminate carrying a small foldable table for my laptop. To give this shelf additional functionality, I designed some 3D printed accessories that clip directly to the Omnishelf and fit inside the case when transporting: • Mutlpurpose drink holder that also serves as a multimeter or ammeter holster • Mouse pad shelf Check for these accessories on Etsy if you are interested. I have a few other 3D designs I may incorporate as well to add more functionality to the shelf. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I priced out components to make a custom version and the price of materials came close to the price of the Omnishelf. I didn’t factor in my labor, but I could see it would take some time to implement my ideas so I opted for the price of entry. This shelf is robust and grips great with the magnets. I haven’t tested the suction cups yet, but I keep them on me in case I need in field. I have some additional ideas and modifications that I will create with a 3D Printer that will help make this the Ultimate portable shelf. Only negative is the price of the shelf as I feel this should be cheaper for what it is. You’ll see there are other reviews stating the same.

Handle hurts your fingers because they are to wide and sharp. Costs way to much

Doubles as a briefcase as well for your laptop or other items. I reached out to Omni desk for a replacement magnet, and Bobby replied immediately and took care of me. This desk holds super strong, make sure you get the rubber pieces to protect the item you hang it from. It’s not too heavy either, maybe like 3-5 pounds with my laptop in it. I feel like this mag desk will last a lifetime.

I work in data centers almost daily with rows and rows of cabinets. I just slap this on the door of the cabinet next to the one I'm working on and have a place to put my laptop, tools, whatever I need. Not exactly cheap, but well worth the money.

This is better than sliced bread if you have a metal housing or like the side of a vehicle or something, not a Corvette Corvettes are fiberglass, but it needs to be something metal and not stainless because I just won’t stick to stainless, but you can set this on a panel and open it up and set your laptop on it and it holds up really well. It’s a nice good size so it’ll hold up even those grip his giant mega laptops that people are buying nowadays. May I have a little whippy, one that is a micro computer but it’s still handy to use that way I don’t always have to bring a stand in because some places I go have these great big metal containers so I can stick that on there and have my laptop at a comfortable height so height so I can use it and it’s pretty cool. It doesn’t require batteries or power or anything just requires a metal to stick out you won’t stick to your head cause again that’s gonna be a stainless steel and you’d have to have a piece of metal to stick it on. You should buy one or buy two or buy several because you can stick them all over the place actually so you can stick them back to back. I guess it wouldn’t do any good but what the heck have fun

Absolutely love using this in the field. Only thing is i bring a sheet of paper to put between the magnets and the cabinet to prevent scratches....other than that it's great!
