Surprisingly impressed
I purchased this to staple a stair carpet. I’m not a fan of Silverline tools but I wasn’t going to pay £80 for a Stanley air stapler for one job so I bought this on the assumption that if it kept on jamming as other reviews suggested, then I would return it for a refund. It never jammed once! I even held the nose back and rapid fired a strips of staples into the bin and it never jammed! It did fine with the stair carpet, firing in Silverline 783140 Type 90 Staples 5000-Pack 5.5 x 25mm staples into pine with ease. The build quality appears adequate. I haven’t tried brads with it so I can’t comment if they jam or not. Surprisingly, this is a tool that I like. It wouldn’t make me want to by another Silverline product by preference, but I would certainly recommend it for diy use.

Good value for occasional use
As most people will use this infrequently, this is a very good price for "garage shelf" kit which works well, saving a lot of time. By slightly angling the head when pulling the trigger, it is possible to drive staples deep or leave them slightly proud of the workpiece. The new unit has driven several hundred Tacwise tacks into deal posts over chicken wire without jamming. It is very helpful to have an air tacker; a compressed air cylinder, once charged with air, can be carried to the worksite away from power and will drive 100+ staples effectively (depends on cylinder capacity, mine is 24l Stanley with 1.5hp compressor - noisy when compressing but effective). The staples load fairly easily too. I have not tried it with nails yet.

A good basic stapler - with a word of caution.
I very seldom write reviews unless I've a real world experience to pass on to help others. I required a cost effective stapler that fired 'A' type 10mm to refix piano hammer felts and soon ran into trouble using Silverline's own brand A type (5.2 x 10), quickly becoming an 'expert' in breaking down the front firing mechanism to dig out shattered staples. I noted several purchasers used Silverline 783140 Type 90 Staples, with no issues, the type 90 presumably a better fit in the gun (although 0.65mm wider and a tighter fit to repair piano hammers!) Thus I sought Type 90's and found 'Fixman' staples on Ebay (I was now dubious about the Silverline brand). Gun loaded I fired 10 into a blank without issue and then one into that felt. Perfect. The Fixman brand seemed to be of better quality too. And so, would I recommend this stapler. Yes, it works fine, but don't touch those smaller A type staple's with a barge pole unless you want to become an expert at stripping down this gun. I would award 5 stars for what is a good basic stapler albeit for the lack of advice from Silverline on product use and the fact they sell crappy staples.

Does the job and is value for money
This was easy to assemble the quick release air hose fitting (don't forget to tape the threads) and is great for staples and nails.

It staples beautifully
Love this. My trusty but very old staple gun finally failed on me after about 15 years. I had to have another one. I almost went for the tacwise option but, at almost 3 times the price, I plumped for this one. It's a good stapler and staples smoothly and dare I say it... it's a pleasure to use 😊

Paper weight! But will probably jam the paper!
Do not buy!! This is the worst tool I have ever bought!! I’m an engineer, I purchased to put up breather membrane on a roof and timber walls. It jams every 5-10 staples, and you have to disassemble to remove bent or sheared staple......please note I bought the silver line staples of the correct gauge and length. I also tried differing air pressures between the manual recommended 4-7 bar. It is useless, a 2 hour job took me 10 hours with having to strip it down 20-30 times?!,
