Based on the autobiography of Frank Abagnale, Jr., a true-life story of the most successful bank robber and con artist in U.S. histo ry. Successfully eluding the FBI for years, Abagnale (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a master of deception: posing as a commercial airline pi lot, pediatrician, assistant attorney general and history professor - and a brilliant forger passing millions in bad checks both in the U.S. and Internationally. FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), has made it his prime mission to bring Abagnale to justice and pu rsues him relentlessly, eventually capturing him in Paris. Review: Good movie - Great movie based on fact. Review: Ver clever film....immersive! - What a clever film! Fantastic plot twist. Based on a true story (as are some of the best films of all time). Leonardo put so much effort into researching the real life Mr Abignail and it really pays off. Fantastic acting by both DiCaprio and Hanks. It reawakens a childish imagination of what it could be like to live in someonelse's shoes and explores some interesting and still massively relevant issues of how society responds to people differently just by the clothes they wear or the documents they carry. You get totally absorbed into the story and whilst you realise that Mr Abignail is clearly a criminal, you know the reason why he is behaving that way and you sympathise with him. Who's side will you take? Who do you root for? When I first watched it I changed my mind on this multiple times, and still do every time I watch it. How refreshing! So many films are so black and white good vs evil, but this one is far more entertaining because it forces you to really think hard about who is in the right. The attention to detail in the film is incredible. On a par with 'The Terminal' for the immersive story, the societal issue sit addresses, the characters and the general atmosphere of the film.

FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) is forever hot on Abagnale's trail and the subsequent cat-and-mouse chase never gets boring.
Catch Me If You Can is a highly satisfying 141 minutes of film drama. The film follows the true, captivating story of Frank Abagnale Jr. - depicted flawlessly (and I mean flawlessly) by the ever-impressive Leonardo DiCaprio. Abagnale was 'the most successful bank robber in history' whose initiative, cunning and determination saw him con doctors, lawyers, policemen and airline pilots. However, FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) is forever hot on Abagnale's trail and the subsequent cat-and-mouse chase never gets boring. The acting? Superb. The plot? Original. The dialogue? Realistic. The message? Lasting. 'Catch Me If You Can' is satirical and funny but ever poignant and mesmerizing - it raises important questions in the minds of the viewers; questions of morality, of meaning and of the power of the individual to overcome so many obstacles. If you haven't seen Spielberg's 'Catch Me If You Can', with its brilliant acting and stellar cast, you simply are missing out big time.

4K Steelbook - December 2025 Edition
Excellent, love the reflective foil look and feel of the steel book - looks great in 4K and you also get the Blu-ray version supplied in it. The Blu-ray version has the special features on it (none on 4K) The bluish hue has a reflective foil effect that look really good on the case. This case does easily get fingerprints on it though Bluray is a 2022 disc it seems and the font used (on the title) is different from the steel book and the 4K disc.

Mindblowing Move
I hadn't seen this film in years, I only remembered it vaguely, but remembered it being a good film. Update - it is an incredible film. Catch Me If You Can is one of those few films that can make your jaw drop and you say 'wow' at the screen. DiCaprio is at his best, and Hanks does a great job too. Spielberg does an expectedly fantastic job also, but the crown goes to the story. The sheer excitement that the journey this man goes on is exceptional. The way a boy can fool an airline that he works for them, a hospital that he is a doctor, his father-in-law that he's a lawyer, all at the age of 16/17 is something else. What will really get you is that this is a true story.

Love of parents
Frank loves his parents. He loves the way they love each other. His heart breaks when he realizes that one of them is `cheating' on the other. He starts masquerading. They are now divorcing. He has to choose to live with one or other parent. He is 16. He chooses but is traumatized. (I was not traumatized not knowingly anyway; I was five). His deceptions increase. He continues to love his chosen parent. His grip on reality lessens as his masquerades become more outlandish. He is now travelling extensively but still writes `home'. He keeps wanting his parents to be together again but by now, his other parent has remarried. He finds out. He is in disbelief; simply not acceding to the possibility. More deceptions lead eventually to capture. He even escapes that process briefly to see his other parent. His looking through the window... is so poignant. It ends with his new parent figure. For me, this is a very moving story (with some personal resonance). The film is beautifully acted and paced. John Williams' music is perfect. Love of parents and one in particular, permeates this entire film.

Catch Me If You Can
Leonardo DiCaprio (or is it Matt Damon as the close comparison is sometimes made) seems to really enjoy himself in this telling of a true story. As we view the main events of his life from over his shoulder. We see he wares out more lives than the preverbial cat.Closely pursued by the FBI character of Tom Hanks who always seems to be one step behind .At first with little good fortune and later with eventual persistence both catches and turns his man for "poacher to gamekeeper".Another notable performer is Christopher Walken as the main characters father. An extremely watchable and enjoyable movie you'll view again and again

Il film mi è piaciuto in quanto tratto da una storia vera, e quindi riporta alla realtà il modo di arrangiarsi di certe persone
