disappointing
The translation app doesn't work. It had problems from the beginning. It doesn't translate what is said through the headset. Bad investment.

A Useful Language Companion with Caveats
I travel a lot for work and pleasure. With over 35 countries under my belt, I know the challenges that come with certain locations when you don't speak the language. For a while, I have used google translator but its use case is quite limited during a 1-1 conversation. Hence when I came across the Sabertooth smart voice language translator, I was excited to order them. The device came well packed with all the accessories you need to get going. The case is a bit flimsy and the earbuds feel a bit light. I think they could have been built a bit more sturdy given the price point. Nonetheless, if it works well, then it's a great tool. The earbuds come with a case and is compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 and its compact size (1.5 x 0.87 x 2.13 inches) and lightweight (0.06) makes it easy to carry around. The standby time of 120 hours is also a big plus. While I have not traveled recently, I do speak multiple languages and was able to test it. In my testing, it accurately translated Hindi to English and vice versa. The speakers voice was clear and the translation was almost real time. However, I am not sure how it would work if the cell connection is poor. There are features for offline use as well. The highlight of this device is its broadcast mode which allows the moderator to speak to a group of users each in their own foreign language. The screen layout is user-friendly with two icons, one for the moderator to create a broadcast meeting and the second for users to join a broadcast meeting. The process of creating a broadcast meeting is straightforward, just type in the requested information and tap create to start the translation. However, the language tutor was utterly disappointing. There was a huge lag and I couldn't make out some of the spoken words as the cut out. This device is quite interesting as it has lots of use cases. However, it will take some more time and field testing to fully test all the functions. For now, I would give this device a 4-star rating. It is a good device but could be improved with the language tutor being optimized. More testing is needed to fully understand its performance especially in the field where accents might bring about a different outcome. I will update the review as I learn more.

Super Cool Language Translation Device, But Not Exactly How I Expected It to Work Per the Ad
I got the smaller earbud version because I felt its shorter battery on time would be offset by the highly portable recharge pocket pack. I started to get the larger one for its longer "on" time, but then once it runs out, I'd need to carry my own recharge battery. Some might see that as the better choice. But I can always carry a battery pack to recharge the small battery pack that store the earbud, if that make sense. So I think the earbud is better. And even with its charger case, it so really very tiny - about half the size of my car's remote control.Looking back, I have to say I find the ad for this device is a bit confusing. If you are expecting to hear a speaker in one language instantly translated in real time into your ear, either I can't figure out how to make that work, or else it isn't exactly what happens. So far, I've found that the way it works is to let it hear a speaker say something, then wait for the translation into my ear after clicking the app on my phone to perform the translation. Very useful, no argument, but not quite what I thought it might do. And if I am wrong, someone tell me. But it does slow down the conversation quite a bit.For sure, the app on your smartphone is an absolute necessity for this to work. As far as I can tell, that also means for group chats and other features to work, you must use their app apparently along with others. Understand there is a lot this can do, and I'm still trying to figure it all out before I go abroad and spend a few days not able to put it to any real good use.I does appear you can use this on any regular phone call. Just understand it doesn't actually translate word for word in real time. You can't have someone talk on and on, and hear the stream of what they are saying as they say it. You have to capture some of it, then play that back translated. However, it is still very impressive, and I think it will be extremely useful traveling. More so if you are learning a particular language or are partly familiar with it, and then use this to make sure you understood everything correctly. But it does then add a delay to the conversation while you play the translation.Maybe one day a device will exist that literally takes what someone is saying in one language while you hear it instantly in another, somewhat like on Star Trek. Until then, this is quite useful. Just not exactly what I thought the ad had me thinking it would do. I still give it five stars. And I'd welcome any input from others who have figured this out completely. I'm still working on it.

A nice language translation device that also act as a language tutor.
I am interested in translating. I know English, Tamil, Hindi, and Sanskrit and interested in learning Arabic. Also, my desire is to translate good writings and speeches from one language to another. Further, I plan to travel to Egypt and Japan and like to have access to understand and communicate in a foreign language. This is what prompted me to get SabertoothPro Smart Language Translator Bluetooth Earbud VLT450 and download ST Translator Pro app to my iPhone.I like the VLT450 earbud as it is small, comes with two additional silicone rubber buds to fit the ear snugly. I like its neat charging case and the supplied USB-A to Micro USB wire. The storage/charging case is convenient to carry because of its very small size (2.13x1.5x0.87 inches) like the key fob of a car and light weight (0.96 oz). It has a capable, rechargeable battery (300 mAh) that is expected to last for about 18 hours of use.The language translator supports over 70 languages and there is no access fee when a new language is added. There are five modes of operation (1. Face to Face, 2. Direct Talk, 3. Group Chat, 4. Meeting, and 5. Broadcast). In addition there is a Language Tutor. This mode helps to practice learning a foreign language. You speak words or phrases (to the mic in the ear bud) and they are translated and automatically played back via the earphone.I found the Offline Translator function useful. When you have the Internet, you down load the language pack you want and in the area where there is no Internet connection, you will still be able to communicate. It has Text Translator in which you type in the text using the App in your smart phone; it gets translated and you play it. I love the Camera Translator, where you take a picture of a bill board or a notice and get it translated. This will be very useful in a foreign country to know the road and street names or names of businesses, etc.I tried SabertoothPro VLT450 and used it to translate among English, Hindi, and Tamil. The translation was good although not perfect and I may unscientifically quantify it as 90% accurate. There is a 27 page pdf document that you may download, which explains the various modes and how to use them. This is a nice product and there is learning curve to understand its features and use them effectively and effortlessly.

Very useful Translator
I'm very curious and interesting to know about this language translator. With my first experience it's just great and really helpful to learn and know other languages. The product is packaged and presenter very well, it has all the necessary accessories. Charging via USB is great help. Light indicator and color differentiate for level of charging is helpful to know it's 50%, 75%.The headphone fits perfect but was struggling for the first time, the headphone case is good and holds and charges perfectly. The case is of decent quality and volume is good at indoor didn't get a chance to test them outdoor. When it comes to the App, App is the key here for the translation, the headphone is an extension but without the headphone App is of no use or cannot be used at all. There are various options to get translated or join the conversation, al are very useful for someone to learn the other language and get help when we're really stuck with the language. I've started learning other languages and having fun.The App works perfect in Android, but in Apple it simply gets stuck and I never got to work, that's the reason for 4star. iPhone got hanged once the app is installed, apart from this App still have scope to improve the usability.Overall this product is useful and will recommend.
