GM Genuine Parts 214-2149 (25932571) Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid

This part is a perfect replacement part to clear P0449 EVAP Solenoid error P0449 (sometimes on DIC it will also say "Tighten Gas Cap"). Truck is a 2005 Chevy 1500 4x4 Z71 Crew Cab with 5.3L V8 (Engine VIN Code: T). Dealership wanted $156.00 for "replacement upgrade" parts per TSB:02-06-04-037I (part: 25932571). Dealership will not sell you this part, AC-Delco 214-2149, stating that is no longer available and must buy upgrade. They have taken this part out of all their databases and even Amazon tells you it will not fit your truck. The "new one" has relocated it out of the way from in front of the gas tank as to not contaminate it and cause the faults. ACDelco 214-2149 Professional Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid Got this part overnight for $18 (including S/H) and within 20 minutes had it installed using existing parts. Reset codes, 3 days later, no codes! Thinking about ordering a second one while still available just in case it gets contaminated again. You can get the entire "old part with hose and connector" here on Amazon, but you don't need it. You can reuse existing hose. Use heat gun on tube and pull off old solenoid and then same process to put it on new one. Make sure you orientate the hose properly, cause once it is on there, it is on... As a side note you can get the "new part" that allows you to relocate this part under truck from in front of gas tank (as recommended by GM) on Amazon as well for about $60-70. This is the part "ACDelco 214-2082 Canister Solenoid Valve Kit" that Chevy wants $150+ for. Plus you have to buy heater hose and clamps to extend the vent tube. Just get AC-Delco 214-2149 and be done with it. The first one lasted 70K+ miles so I am sure the next will last just as long. Three weeks of check engine light, two weekends searching auto parts stores, new OEM gas cap and pressure sensor valve (ACDelco 13502903 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor) on tank sending unit (did clear light as parts store people said it would, and one "wrong part" ordered from another company later, I finally found this part and problem solved in 48 hours. Thanks as I hope this helps others on this quest as I searched the internet for hours to finally piece all this together. It is like GM purged all this information from the Net to get you to buy the "new" parts.

Amazon's fir algorithm said this won't fit a 2005 Colorado, and that's technically true but the thing fits really well. Here are the issues... First, you have to have the proper, oval-shaped electrical connector. Check; this one has it. And it has to fit the mounting bracket from the original. Check, it fits. Has to hook up to the hose that connects to the original. OK here's the difference. The original has a couple of barbs that hold it on; this one only has one. I tried a heat gun to soften the hose and pull it off, no joy. So I took an Xacto razor saw (a hacksaw would work as well) and cut the nipple off the old solenoid. Committed now :) I sprayed a little soapy water on the nipple on the new solenoid and (fitting a small hose clamp prior to this) slid the hose right on op to the boss on the nipple. It fit snugly, probably didn't need the hose clamp but used it anyway. Offered the whole thing back up to the truck, hooked up the two hoses you have to remove in order to get it out of the truck (squeeze those white release buttons and tug hard to pull them off), hooked up the electrical connector (fits perfectly) and you're off to the races. OK off to the races figuratively, not literally. This is a 2005 Colorado, after all :) BONUS - saved a wad of cash over the OEM recommendation on the GM site (and here). The only difference between this and that is the OEM one has a hose on it. But for a wad of cash I was just fine with putting the old hose back on, thank you very much :)

This worked great on my 2005 K1500 Silverado. I couldn't put any gas in except quick bursts but not even a 1/4 gallon at a time what a pain in the ass. I think I busted it "topping off" before Hurricane Matthew when we were all in line at the stations. Replacing this part cured the issue and I was able to do a full fill without any fuss. I could swear the truck has more pep as well. I'm not exactly handy but was able to install this in about 20 minutes. Here's what I can tell you. I thought the canister would be behind the fender near the gas filler. Nope it's behind the tank more near the center of the truck by the back wheel but before the differential. It's in a location easy to access from the front, side and back. I didn't need any tools to remove the computer connection and canister, just pushed down the lever on the left side and wiggled it until it would slide off the mounting bracket. The hard part was the hose connecting the vacuum line to the canister. Most people replace the entire hard plastic line with 5/8" rubber hose I did not have such a hose and wanted my truck fixed so here's what I did. I could not get the hose off the old part so I took a very sharp razor blade and cut about 1" down the hard plastic where the hose meets the nipple on the old part. That let the hose expand just a bit so I could wiggle the old part off the hose. Then after connecting the new canister to the mount (just slid it back on) and connected the computer connection I used a hose clamp to secure my now split hose to the nipple and then wrapped duct tape around the remaining part of the split hose just to ensure no leaks would occur. It worked just fine. If it fails i'll just replace the hose properly but this got me by for now.

A needed part when replacing canister it restores function to the system. After replacement gas tank fill is restored without the pump cuting out every few seconds. Wotking well. Good price for gmc parts.

Worked perfectly on my 2007 Silverado 1500 NBS even though Amazon says its incompatible. The existing one on the truck was the much more expensive version with the remotely located carbon filter. I cut the hard line with a hack saw blade to prevent cracking it, removed and replaced the part (extremely simple and straight forward, basically jusy unplug it and wiggle it free off its bracket), then I secured the crinkly line (that goes to the old filter) to the nearest point with a zip tie and left it in place, then connected the new part to the hard plastic line with 5/8 hose. The old "crinkly" line is about 5 feet long and just ends at the filter so I left that all in place. The jumper hose you will need to put in to join the new part to the (now cut) hard plastic line is only about 6"-8" maybe AT MOST 12". If you can buy a foot from a local parts store, just get the 1' for like $0.90 or whatever it is and don't waste the money buying the suggested 6'. Also, while it certainly is correct to use worm gear clamps or the like to secure either end of that jumper, I was lazy and didn't have any and used a few zip ties to hold me over till I get around to the parts store and all is working fine. don't have a panic attack if you realize you don't have any clamps and then do something silly like pay Amazon $6/clamp for expedited delivery, just firmly zip in place and get some inexpensive clamps and you'll be just fine. Note, my 6"-8" of hose actually overlapped the hard plastic line by about 3"-4" so really you could even get away with less. Altogether my repair cost me 3 zip ties (soon add 2 hose clamps), use of a hack saw (blade only, I mean it's not insanely hard plastic) or comparable blade, 6" of hose, and this part. It actually only took about 12 min to perform this "repair"

Fits 2007 Silverado Classic 5.3L Perfect !!! I needed a fix for my check engine light and "tighten fuel cap" message. This seems to be a very common problem with these trucks. I read mixed reviews about this item fitting a 2007 Silverado Classic with the 5.3 engine. After ordering to see for myself, this item is indeed the exact replacement and has fixed my check engine light and the "tighten fuel cap" message. You will need a few feet of 5/8" heater hose and 2 hose clamps to install this because the factory hose is shrink fitted and cannot be reused. First off, disconnect the battery. The canister is located on the back side of the gas tank. Remove the canister and disconnect the fitting on the other end of the hose. You will need to cut this fitting off the factory hose to reuse it. Attach the canister and fitting on to the new heater hose and install back on the truck. Reconnect the battery. The check engine light should reset after having the battery disconnected for long enough. I have not had another error since! Based on the research I have done, these canisters will go bad because of all the dust accumulated due to the factory location. This part is identical to what was on my 2006 Silverado 1500 WT, 4.3L V6. However, auto parts stores, including Amazon, will say thta this part does not fit. The recommended part is about $150. The difference is that the new part, is actually a couple of parts. They relocated the filter in hopes of it not clogging with such regularity as this one. That new part costs $150 and is a bit more difficult to install. I figured for $12 I can replace this part 12 times before I match the cost of the new part. Since the first one lasted 6 years, I think I will be OK. They should have issued a recall since they changed the design to eliminate the very common engine code problem. Since they didn't, I decided to go cheap just like they did. This part is easy to replace. You will need a sharp knife, about 4-6" of radiator 5/8" radiator hose, 2 hose clamps and about 15 minutes of time. This part is located on the driver's side - just ahead of the spare tire (on a 2006 Silverado). There is a small tab that you push down, and then you can slide the part off. There is one electrical connection that is easy to pop off - no tools required. Then you just cut the existing hose, slide the 5/8" radiator hose onto your new solenoid, secure with a hose clamp and then slide the existing hose into the other end of the 5/8" radiator hose and secure with a hose clamp - DONE. Goodbye check engine light. I cleared the code with a code reader and then cycled the ignition a few times to make sure that the code was gone. I am so happy that I didn't waste $150 on the new part.

2008 GMC Canyon 5cyl - Just removed my original solenoid after check engine light & error code popped up on my newly purchased Foseal OBDll scan tool. After reading some of the reviews on this feedback section, I ordered this AC Delco 214-2149 Solenoid without having to purchase the suggested cable connection accessory. The original male connector on my 08 Canyon was a match with the female connector on this 214-2149 solenoid, both are oblong. Took me a little under two hours to remove the original part & replace with this new purchased solenoid. Mostly due to the fact that I used the original hose which meant I had to cut off the plastic hose connection close to the base of the original solenoid with a hack saw, then the task of crunching the remaining plastic hose connection into pieces to remove what was left in the hose. Pain in the butt because the plastic did not want to break, it kept flexing in every direction & wouldn't crack right away. After removing the plastic pieces I used a hose clamp to secure the hose into the new solenoid, remounted the brackets & mounted the solenoid & connectors. When I started my vehicle, the check engine light remained on, so I reset it with the Foseal OBDll Scanner, the check engine light went off, rescanned & the diagnostics were back to normal. I'm a happy camper that just saved a lot of money doing this job myself!
