Does the lid lock in place?

It sits on top safely but doesn’t lock. I generally use it upside down to bake sour dough bread in the lid and put the base on top . It is very heavy and a great bit of kit. You can move the lid around so the handles are in a different position which makes it safer for me to pick up the base when I have heated it up for an hour at very high temperature before I put my bread in. Def recommend.

Dimensions? It really does not look the listed 30.5 x 30.5 x 12.7 cm. Is it really just 12.7cm deep? Thanks Richard

The dimensions are rather 25 x 25 (if you exclude the handles). It is more like 10,5 cm deep (without the lid).

can you put a whole 5k chicken in one of these babies?

I don't think so since 5kg chicken is huge and more of an oblong shape. you can bake a 2kg loaf of sourdough and a large 2kg chicken if you really tied and squeezed all its limbs in

Does it work on an induction top

Yes! I find that heavy cast iron pans heat up very quickly on induction so check whether your induction cooker will allow a simmer after bringing to the boil...
