A great pen at a good price
This pen feels well made. The weight and balance are just right. The pen is quite heavy, but that all adds to the solid, reliable feel. The black finish looks great. The ink flows smoothly and so far hasn't dried up at all. My handwriting isn't great but there is just enough resistance on the paper to slow my hand down a little, so the end result looks better. A lovely instrument and a good investment, especially at the price.

First fountain pen and I’m impressed
I’ve always written with ballpoint pens, so I was curious to try something more elegant and I’m glad I went for this Ellington fountain pen. On the brand’s own website this pen looked nice but on Amazon it was a much better deal, so I took the plunge. I immediately felt the difference, it’s substantial, but not heavy. The medium nib writes smoothly and consistently, I haven’t experienced any skipping or blotting. I’m getting used to it, I find I write a bit slower and more deliberately now but that’s part of the charm. The pen also comes with a refillable ink converter and three cartridges. The gift box doesn’t give high end vibes but it does the job to keep my pen safe in my bag. It’s a good entry level luxury fountain pen without over spending. I’m really happy with the purchase and I’d absolutely recommend it.

It's the smoothest pen I've ever used. The quality is truly superaltive.
This pen is awesome! As soon as the nib touched the paper, I knew I’d made the right choice. The ink flow was perfect and it dried so quickly. I prefer to use it without the lid as it’s the perfect weight for me and sits so comfortably in my hand. It looks beautiful too. I chose the green one because it looks really classy. I haven’t used a pen and ink for years, so I was rather cautious about buying a fountain pen again. I’ve tried others in the past, but they were disappointing - messy, with uneven ink flow, so now they just sit on my shelf collecting dust. I honestly can’t recommend this pen highly enough. Trust me, you’ll end up throwing out all your other pens, whether they’re ink pens or ballpoints

Competent rather than exceptional
I was a little concerned ordering this fountain pen due to some of the marketing claims made by Ellington Pens and a number of not too complementary reviews on YouTube. Lets be clear this is a Chinese made pen produced for Ellington Pens and some of the claims they make are very misleading and possibly untrue. That said, the pen seems to be of a decent quality and writes nicely. Ellington makes claims of it being 'The best balanced pen ever made', I would have to disagree as I have far better balancing pens in my own collection. I find it difficult to use with the cap posted as the hexagonal cap finial throws the balance out completely and it's purpose isn't clear. It's quite a nice writing pen otherwise and is comparable to some other makes in the price range. Competent rather than exceptional. I have taken off one star due to the less than honest marketing employed by Ellington Pens.

A beautiful writer! Medium nib
A beautiful, quality pen and a lovely writer. Very nice to hold, well balanced and light weight. I want an emerald green one as well if I can get it with a medium nib.

Not as impressive as you might initially think
I was delighted when I first received this pen - it was very handsome in metallic blood red and silver chrome and I loved the little touches like the fact that the cap clipped on smoothly, and didn't need to be twisted open and closed. The nib is also really nice and smooth to write with and the ink flows well, even if I have had it uncapped and on standby for a little while. However, that's more or less where the pros for this pen ends. It quickly becomes apparent how heavy the pen is to hold for long periods. After one A5 page of notetaking, my wrist was getting very achy and I had to keep stopping to rub it. It felt very unbalanced in the hand. The pen cap was also not too firm when uncapped. I had to give the pen a bit of a shake after inserting a new cartridge, and the pen cap flew off and landed the other side of my desk. This then happened a few times afterwards - even in the course of writing. I had to give the cap a little firmer push onto the body to get it to stay in place, and this caused the second major flaw. Because when I came to recap the pen, the lid clicked down, but didn't sit firm on the pen body. In fact, it now rattles up and down making a loud and irritating clicking sound - much like a child's castanet. I also do not see the point of the removable silver bolt on the top of the pen. I can see it adds to the aesthetic, but why make it unscrewable? It often worked its way loose, which meant the pen clip that is held in place by the bolt swivelled around the cap making it really irritating and unbalanced to write with. And its not like you can remove the clip - I did so and found that the bolt just would not screw back properly on the cap, exposing a ring of the milky plastic cap interior. The bolt itself seems to weigh even more than the rest of the pen combined - this is why the pen is so uncomfortable to hold for longer than 20 minutes! So sadly whilst the writing nib is lovely, I will be reverting to using my other fountain pens. Even the disposable fountain pens at a fraction of the price of this Ellington are more comfortable to write with. If I could get a refund on this, I really would. Don't waste your money if you plan on using it for anything more than trotting out the odd shopping list.

Nice pen with uninterrupted ink flow
Very high quality pen that works as advertised. I have bought both fine and medium sized nib. They both work very nicely. The converter in other pens that I have used had issues with the flow and I have to bleed it to restart writing. But not with Ellington pens, they seem to work all the way till the ink is done and you need to refill it. I find the medium nib smoother. Very good value pen, if one has to buy one I highly recommend this one, it the best of that price range that I have tried.
