GENUTRAIN Knieband.Gr.5 titan This is a review for the Genutrain Knieband Titan. (posted link above) TL:DR Great for BJJ, had to be careful with sizing guide. Backround: While practising BJJ, I attempted an Uchi-mata (judo throw) I didn't commit enough, my opponent ducked under and took my back then decided to jump on me distributing both of our combined body weights through my knee. End result was lots of popping and me screaming in agony on the floor, turns out I'd torn my medial collateral ligament. fast forward to when I could walk properly, I bought a velcro wrap around knee support, which was ok, but not amazing, as it kept coming down the leg, after reading about this knee support, I decided to try it and I was not disappointed, so much so, I'm going to buy another. Ok, so I had my first roll last night with this on, I'm blue belt at the moment and I was against another blue belt, we were going for it and this knee support stayed on throughout, which really surprised me as it often slides down my leg about an inch after putting it on and walking around, so I'm very pleased with it. When washing it, I used normal non-bio washing powder and some dettol anti-bacterial in-wash solution and it's come out fine, so again, really pleased there too. When buying it, the sizing guide was a bit ambiguous as my calf was within the range of a number 4, and my thigh was in the range of a number 6, so I thought I'd go for the one in the middle and bought a number 5. (I'm 5'9", fairly well built) and a number 5 seems to be spot on, though if I'm honest, I'd prefer it to be a bit tighter on my thigh, and a bit more slack on my calf (yes it is on the right way up, you can't get that wrong as it has a thumb guide to pull it on) anyway, after seeing this come out of the wash ok, I'm going to be getting myself another one, but as the reviews on here are a bit vague for anything BJJ related I thought I'd post for you guys.

This knee support just allowed me to keep training in martial arts when I thought it was all over. It's very good.

I bought this following the instructions given around sizing and despite making sure of my knee size several times the knee brace I did not fit at all when it arrived and I can’t imagine it would have been anywhere near close. I expect (given all the images are of men) this is designed on men’s legs and not women’s. A common issue as women’s legs tend to have a different shape and therefore the grip just wasn’t good. It was so expensive and the customer service to return this was rubbish, they only reply in German and it’s very confusing instructions to get the postage label. After posting it back using the correct label they never contacted me after a month so I messaged again and they simply said “we have not received a return” with nothing else. I had sent it to them tracked but they were just being rubbish. Thankfully Amazon stepped in and refunded me because it was a big expense. I bought another brand on here for £12 and it was much much better. Waste of time and money.

Bought based on the measurements from the seller and now is too big. Seller doesn't have a return police. Waste of money

It is pricey but it is well made and so far holding up to the wash and wear. It provides great support and as a runner is pretty comfortable to wear for at least an hour at a time. It provides great patella stability and has been a godsend to get back to training after an injury.

This thing is light, very cool - unlike neoprene, and when wearing it, I often forget my arthritic knees. I got my first one six months ago, and it hardly shows any wear. Now I have one for each knee. Although they do not need it often, I wash them in the washing machine under the hand wash setting on cold, and then air dry them. There are stiffeners on the sides, and they are apparently metal, because they set off the metal detectors, but don't feel particularly stiff. I wouldn't recommend wearing them if you are sitting most of the time because they will cut off the circulation a bit.
