All right. Here I will write a short review about this Transformer Book which I bough few days ago. First time when it came, it had 0% battery. You have to let it for a while to charge first time, and don't unplug until is 100% charged. But you can use it first time plugged in, as a normal laptop...or tablet. Setup was easy, it took a while to finish settings, but once you do it, it become very fast and responsive (Except Internet Explorer on windows 8, which is a pain... on any PC) I upgraded immediately to windows 10 without problem. YES, I am writing this review on transformer pad with windows 10 installed, which until now didn't had any kind of issues. I've seen some early reviews which they said this tablet is in trouble if you upgrade to windows 10, because of the lacking of drivers and stability. WRONG. Everything was installed successfully, all drivers updated to date, and working even way much better on windows 10. If you want to do the upgrade to windows 10, I will recommend to do it from USB flash storage (minimum 4gb) as I did, you can make it very easily from another PC by just downloading windows10 with creationtool from microsoft website, because if you download it on laptop it will fail due to space ( even like this you will have to select not to merge your documents and programs which u have in windows 8 to win10. just a clean install) Everything works smooth and very responsive. Windows 8 came with under 15gb free space, but once you upgrade to win10 you gonna have around 20gb free space to use (here I talk about 32GB version) The description is wrong because it came with a 32gb SSD, this version, which is very fast and responsive, windows loading in seconds, and everything working as I didn't expected. About the material is build, is a kind of plastic, not premium one, but it is good built. Keyboard is very responsive, strong and good build, defining other negative reviews which they said is a very cheap and unresponsive keyboard. IS NOT. it is really good, only that you have to get used with it, because the keys are very small, but if you can type on a virtual keyboard on 5" phone, you can do it very well into this. I didn't had the chance to drain the whole battery, I didn't used all day, but as far as I notice (at least in windows 10), the battery is really strong and last very long. Right now I am on tablet within more that one hour and I have around 91% battery left, with the light settings set on auto (around 75%) Since the 32GB maybe is not enough for some of you, if you cannot afford higher capacity, it will be very good to add an microSD card with 64GB capacity as I did, and store files, music and documents you have into it. This version which I ordered came with 1 USB 2.0 port as well, I know is not 3.0 but is very welcomed, because If you decide instead to buy a tablet, and a separate keyboard, you will not have and is going to be more expensive. Besides, even with touchscreen in windows 10, is pretty easy, if you are first time user, you have to get used with it. Camera do his job, is not high quality one, not made for selfies, but is alright for skype and other video callings. Web browsing is fast and responsive in chrome and edge as well, music is pretty loud ( I should say, I've notice that the right speaker is not so loud as the left one. maybe there are settings which needs to be done to set it up properly. I won't believe that is a hardware problem but I will check) Is very easy to transport and use it anywhere, on laptop or tablet mode, which is one of the main reason I bought. It do his job, even better that I was expected. I apologies for some English mistake if there is, but this is my review for this ASUS Transformers BOOK, and here i give 5 stars for now. So I ordered this as a great replacement to my tablet which I had around 3 years. This was windows 8.1 vs Android 4, which felt slightly awkward. Full disclosure, I do not think that Windows 8.1 has enough apps on it's store to justify being a competitor against the likes of iOS and Android. Having said that, using it as a laptop it was fantastic, web browsing and live-streaming (primarily twitch tv). Now here's the kicker (and it's a big one). These models can not be allowed to sleep. Sleep mode causes a critical issue in that they can and often do fail. Once in sleep mode they will then refuse to turn on without the appropriate diagnostic equipment. As far as I know, based on internet research, that it happens for no particular reason and fixing it is a case of unplugging the internal battery and plugging it back in. If you aren't willing to open the tablet up make sure to turn off sleep mode in all forms! Literally configure it to no sleep when closed, idle or on button press. Unfortunately I can't possibly give this tablet more than 1 star. I had it a whole half a day before it had to be sent back. A real shame, as it was a really promising bit of kit.

My post may be biased against the item but I do have good reason to give it 3 stars. I ordered the transformer book and it worked. I needed to update it when I had my account verified with Outlook. That worked well. It found the Wifi and logged in successfully. With a minor probem, I found by pressing shift and restart it took it back to factory standard. It then asked to upgrade to Windows 10. So I started the upgrade. This then failed so I tried again. The update did not take hold and tried to refer back to Windows 8.1. This did nothing except cycle on and off for 3 hours. Then I tries the BIOS start. It then crashed showing a blue screen and nothing more. So I requested a replacement and sent it off. The next one came and I put it to power on. It showed a orange light next to the on/off screen. So left it alone for a few hours. Tried to turn it on but it kept flashing. Looked online and found it was a common problem with the battery not powering up. So I requested another and sent that one back. The third one came and when I powered it from the mains it showed another orange light. Left it for an hour and tried it. The orange light kept flashing. So same problem. I then asked for a refund of which was the only option I now had. In all, the product is nice. A very decent sized computer. It is a shame ASUS has these problems. I would say if you get one that works then look after it. It can be problematic according to other forums online. But in all, I never got a chance to see what it was capable of and how well it worked. Will get something like a Lenovo transformer book instead. May be more expensive but they do not have the power problems this one has.

This Transformer was bought as a present, primarily for the windows operating system and size. I was sceptical about the utility of this tablet, but after lending it, it is remarkably functional. As a pure tablet, it is a reasonable weight without the keyboard. The operating system (windows 8) is quite usable in the pure tablet format. The keyboard, while small and takes some adapting to, makes typing much easier than a tablet only virtual keyboard, due to the tactility of the keyboard, and can be used for longer typing sessions. The battery life is good and charging using the supplied charger is fairly quick. The HDMI port works well, along with the USB port and MicroSD port. These features make it a viable alternative to a full size laptop, for light duty requirements. The small issues are, once in a while, the keyboard dock seems to not be recognised, and the keyboard stops working. Unplugging and reconnecting solves the problem. I also find the Touchpad buttons stick once in a while. I have been pleasantly surprised with the Transformer Book, and can certainly recommend it.

Received yesterday. Wouldn't power on at first, left it on charge for an hour before any sign of life. I'm guessing it's been sitting on a shelf for a while. Then it decided to run through the updates. The update process for Win 8.1 constantly failed. It was trying to download Win 10 at the same time which also failed numerous times. I left it run overnight hoping the bloody thing would sort itself out, checked it this morning and lo and behold, the network adapter has stopped working, no connectivity. Change the settings, change them back, nothing. Delete the driver, download drivers to another computer, transfer to USB stick, reinstall, nothing. Try another driver, still nothing. I would find this procedure acceptable on an older machine, I'm familiar with PC's and their little issues, but this is a brand new device! As usual Amazon are first rate with their returns policy and it is on it's way back with a replacement ordered. Hopefully I've had a duff unit. If the next one is the same that will be going back too. If it works as it should I'll amend the rating, but for now, one star it must be. Very disappointed as I've owned many Asus products over the years and always found them excellent. Update; received my replacement last week. After some online research I followed the general consensus and after setup I disabled auto-updates. It appears that quite a number of people have experienced problems after various windows updates. As the machine will mainly be used for internet, email and the like I'm not overly concerned whether the OS is bang up to date. Its been used daily for the past several days and has performed as expected. I've experienced one instance where the keyboard stopped working but simply unplugging and plugging back in sorted this out and it hasn't done it since. My biggest surprise is finally finding a platform that I enjoy using Win 8.1 on! The OS really makes sense on a touch screen device. I feel it suits the tablet perfectly. I'm happy to forgo the upgrade to Win 10 as I don't think it would benefit my use of the tablet for what I use it for. I'm amending my rating to four stars, though I wouldn't recommend it if you want to upgrade to Win 10. Update 19/10/15 - Win 10 installation now completed. Very pleased.

This was delivered earlier than the specified delivery time so a big thank you to Amazon and Asus for such a speedy turnaround from order to delivery. I bought this for my wife who is not a power user like me so the specificiations were just right for her. I didn't have high expectations on this but I was pleasantly surprised when I unpacked it and powered it up. It's a superb little netbook which changes into a superb tablet at the press of a push-button. As an android fanboy I was also pleasantly surprised by the windows 8/wiindows 10 (you get the option to upgrade to windows 10 for free which I did) and it works well on tablets. In fact I would go as far as to say it's as good as Android. The quality of the build is good, it doesn't feel cheap or tacky as some netbooks to do as when they are trying to keep the price down. It is fast, the key board feels good and is easy to type. the display is clear for the size and looks good. It's not too heavy as a laptop and as a tablet is not too weighty either. All in all a good quality , good value buy for the light PC user who also needs the versatility of a tablet. One point worth mentioning is that it doesn't have a DVD/CD drive and if you do wish to attach an external one you will need to use a powered USB hub. I would recommend this product to any one.

I am writing this review a bit too soon, after 1 day of having it, just wanted to share how to switch it on after the initial charge. I struggled for a few hours and noticed that other people struggled with it as well. After the unit is fully charged (orange led changes to white led), keep the power button pressed for 20 - 30 seconds (that definitely does a shut-down in case unit was in some strange state). After that, press the power button and look for the appearance of white dot to the right of the camera. When the dot appears, keep the button pressed for 1 more seconds and it will switch on. After installing several things and restarting it, it switches on by keeping the power button pressed for 1-2 seconds. Short press gives battery state, longer press switches it on. The tablet/laptop looks lovely. The display has high resolution and is of great quality, IPS 1366x768, and is better then the one on newer version of the tablet, T100HA, that one has WXGA 1200x800. It is quite prone to smudges, need to find some screen protector for that. I have ordered a 64 GB micro SD card and will try to update to windows 10 today :) Will update this review after the upgrade. UPDATE after Windows 10 upgrade Well upgrade went more or less smoothly, it has been several months and these are my impressions. I am a bit annoyed with level of integration of windows and this tablet, I am not really certain what are windows issues and what are tablet specific issues. I have several big annoyances: - there is an icon to bring the on screen keyboard. The icon is present when the keyboard is plugged in and not present when the keyboard is not plugged in! So, you can be using this as a tablet, and if you want to type something (password to unlock for example) you can't! To be honest this really looks like a bug in some driver then windows 10 issue. I did manage to find a solution, so now icon is always enabled, but it really looks unprofessional - this one is possible user specific - I like one game I have downloaded from the app store - however, when I run it is relatively small - I have an android 8.9 inch tablet and game work area is bigger there than on this 10 inch windows tablet. I had to scale the entire windows in order to play the game, I don't have the option to run it in a different resolution (apparently, that is an option for normal applications, but not if you download from win store). Scaling entire windows requires restart and ... well, everything is scaled. So, you end up with dialogs without ok/cancel buttons etc (so you have to scale back to do anything else and the procedure for scaling back involves waving with a tablet in strange patterns so that you might catch that elusive ok/apply button on the dialog). I think this is more windows issue then tablet issue - how to buy stuff from app store - since this is a tablet, I can use it sometimes for something semi serious, but I do plan to use it a lot to play games. So, I came up with a cunning plan to buy myself a gift card and like that avoid having my credit card connected with my windows account. Well, adding a gift card to the account was almost a mission impossible, location is convoluted, but never mind that, after entering it, I ended up with some errors. Tried contacting Microsoft support, googling etc. Most common response is that I can't add a gift card because I didn't add a credit card! I mean seriously! This is also a windows issue, I believe, not a tablet one. Conclusion: I still like the build quality of the tablet. I absolutely hate Windows 10 on a tablet (I have to admit that I chose this specifically because of Windows), so I am likely going to try to find some alternative OS that would run on this hardware (I do know that it will void the warranty, but frankly, this is so much unfulfilled potential that it is incredible).

Terrible speed. I bought this to use in lectures and it takes around 2 seconds for each letter to be processed in microsoft word. Running any more than one program at the same time just slows it down even more. On top of this, the connection between the keyboard and screen has been intermittent from the start. This means that the mouse does not always work. This would be fine normally, as I would be able to compensate with the touchscreen, but as of today, this function has also been intermittent. It means I have periods where I am forced to repeatedly attempt to reconnect the keyboard. On top of this, the mouse buttons on the mousepad are starting to stick, for some reason. I only use the laptop in lectures and libraries - it has been nowhere near food, or other possible culprits. I can only really conclude that it is due to some fault in the model. Finally, as others have mentioned, it is impossible to update to windows 10, as the quoted "36GB" of disk space is actually partitioned. Do not buy this product. I am looking in to getting a refund from today.
