What I do know is that with the lining up and attached to my curtains, I can't feel the gale force draughts blowing through the window and the room is pitch black. **Q: Is this fabric machine washable?** A: I've washed it on a hand wash cycle. And it was okay. But don't go near it with bleach. It melts the coating... **Q: I would like to know which side of the lining material should face the window, or doesn't it matter which side faces out?** A: Regarding the blackout effect, it doesn't matter which side you use facing in or out. I believe the "less shiny" side is thought to be facing out, since it looks more like a regular (not plastic) curtain, but it's a matter of taste :) **Q: 18 mtrs of linging ordered will it come on a roll ?** A: I ordered 20 mtrs and that came on a roll. Massively improved darkness in room. Did as roll down blind with net curtain wire to fix at top and bamboo poles as bottom weight. Sewed ties to top so could be secured rolled up.
