How easy is it to install this? Is it like a normal wall socket?

Very easy and as normal. Remove the cables from the normal one and fix it to this one.The cables are colour coded so you wouldn't get it wrong. You can take a photo of your old wiring from the plug so that you can ref to it.

Is the switch meant to light up?

I haven't fitted mine yet but I suspect not. It is similar to other sockets in the range, which have been fitted, and they do not light up.

What size backbox/pattress does this require?

It takes a standard British standard 1gang surface or flush box.

I got this and it has a small buzzing electrical noise when used with7w dimmable led GU10 spotlight lamp on a 5 lamp rack. Are these compatible?

This listing neglects to tell us whether the dimmer is a Trailing or Leading Edge dimmer. It also doesn't mention what the minimum wattage is so I would avoid and go with a listing that claims Trailing Edge and lists the minimum/maximum operating wattage.
