The Vertue Method: A stronger, fitter, healthier you – in 28 days : Vertue, Shona: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: More then exercises - I have been following Shona on social media and done her YouTube workouts before. I like the ethos and philosophy behind her fitness programs - making it a lifestyle rather than a temporary fix. The book has a good flow starting with a story about her and her fitness journey, introduction to the Vertue Method (VM), explains the principles of flexibility, mobility and strength training which are core components of the programme. It’s written in a light, accessible language with plenty of humour and has few nice recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and smoothies. Plenty of photos and the exercises are explained well through use of images and written instructions. To commence the programme you will need two kettlebells (lighter and heavier, for lower and upper body), resistance band, chair, yoga mat and some space and mobility or tennis ball -to use for rolling/massage. The VM has workout options at beginners and advance level and comprises of daily meditation (of your choice), workout (strength or cardio), and flexibility or mobility. Review: I was expecting just exercise routines but it actually is holistic easy to follow guide to a better - Was given this book as a present by someone I suspect who was trying to tell me to lose a few pounds! The first thing that stands out is the quote from David Beckham on the cover, where he credits Shona V for keeping him match fit and getting rid of all his aches and pains, which given he is the UK's most celebrated sports hero is saying something. And after having dived in I can see why mr B rates Ms Vertue so highly. The whole vibe is non-preaching, fresh, motivating and simple, with just the right amount of wit and wisdom thrown in. I was expecting just exercise routines but it actually is holistic easy to follow guide to a better, fitter new you - inside and out, physically and mentally. Recipes, routines, insights, anecdotes and gorgeous photography. I suspect one on one training with Shona is as good as it gets, but until we make it as professional sport stars, for all us mere mortals the book is a great substitute.

Brilliantly informative.
This book is my go to for learning about exercise. No one tells you when you first start getting into fitness how your body can just go "nahhhhhh i dont like this, ive not done this for years so why are you making me do this now." I got back into fitness nearly a year ago and this book has taught me so much about the importance of strength, it has upped my yoga game ten fold, it also told me about trigger points and the importance of not stretching where im knotted, its pretty obvious once you know. I keep re reading this when i need to remember to treat my body well. I would highly recommend it for a truth bomb about exercising.... in a good way! It makes you want to learn more and more and gets you excited for the next time you are working out!

Shona is so beautiful and funny and I love the text bit and the theory of wellbeing in the book, but the workouts are displayed a bit funny and I find them very hard to follow. If there ever is a second edition, I would suggest having the workouts showed picture by picture even if it means repetitive pictures.

The Vertue Method is the best method
Of all the fitness books I've read this is one of the best I love Shona's philosophy of mixing flexibility, mobility, meditation and resistance training. The recipes are very delicious and easy to make and covers all three meals and smoothies for snacks. This book it's written really well by someone who clearly has a lot of knowledge and a great sense of humour, this is the perfect read for any lady looking to live a balanced life and sculpt a perky booty.

Brilliant health and fitness book & very easy to follow!
This is by far the best overall health, fitness and nutrition book I've ever read.... it has everything you need to know and covers / combines basic yoga and meditation and tells you how to combine it with regular fitness and exercise in a straightforward and motivating way. The recipies for the nutrition section are dynamic and you can improvise to suit your own likes and dislikes as well as when to eat the different forms and quantities of various food groups which is extremely helpful and compliments your training. Overall brilliant!

Top book
If u r following Shona in Instagram am sure u love her workout vids that she posts all the time . I do . I've been practising her workouts at home and very happy with that. The only thing I was confused with is actually where to start and what to do to make a daily workout routine for my self as a beginner. The reason I bought the book Is basically to follow a plan . But I found so much more than a plan. The book is full of usfull information about body and lifestyle and recipes. With an easy to follow timetable. Shona wont u to understand ur body well b4 u start . And after following Shona in Instagram u will find urself reading the book and copying the way she talk . Her personality really is been showing in her words. . Last thing to add , whenever u struggle with an exercise just go to Shona's channel in YouTube,u 'll find everything u need.
