Big mouse with attitude to match!
I've just received my Evoluent Vertical Mouse 3 from Hypertec, delivered the day after it was ordered. I removed my old HP mouse and plugged the Evoluent in and it worked without any fuss. I had to remedy the pointer speed as it was flying round my 2 screens but that was easy enough through the control panel. I downloaded the driver from the Evoluent site as described in the accompanying instructions. This provided a link in the Quick Launch panel to allow me to re-arrange the button functions as required as well as pointer speed etc. There is an array of functions to which you can allocate the buttons and wheel, or if you prefer turn some off until you get used to the mouse. There is a tendency to hit a button inadvertently when you move the mouse around. I have large hands so being able to grab a meaty mouse in the way it's possible makes it very comfortable. The hand angle removes any physical stress that may have been present with the traditional mouse. I found myself at ease with it straight away. It will take a short while to fully get used to the new hand position and for things to become totally automatic but it is a totally different concept. First impression is really good and can't imagine I would want to go back to the traditional mouse. It is a little pricey in comparison to the traditional types but when you tot up the hours with your hand on the bloomin' thing each day, and times that by the number of days, weeks, months and years you will be using it, does it really matter?! Your mouse will soon become your unexpected friend - but don't neglect your partner!

Best product ever
This saved my job and massively reduced my RSI. I was going to have to give up my job as I suffered badly from (mouse caused) RSI. I was recommended this by my physiotherapist and it started working withing a week. Because huge strain is put on your ligaments using a normal mouse by twisting them 90 degrees, this allows your hand and wrist to sit in a more normal position. The strain is lessened and eventually your RSI might give you less pain. I still get RSI when drilling or playing tennis, but this vertical mouse is not a cure for RSI, it's just loads better than a normal mouse. It does take a few days to get used to this mouse position.

Difficult to use with OS - finish peels off, poor customer service
***** update after 1 yr use. Found a way around some of KVM issues by routing it is an external USB device 'not a mouse' seems the firmware on Evoluent does not map across if switched by KVM! OK .. bad news on quality .......... after 1 year the paint finish is now peeling off badly. What appears to be a nice matt plastic finish, is in fact just a coat of paint. It has now come away fully from the palm rest area .. and peeling off in big strips elsewhere. Evoluent initially were not interested ... quote from Evoluent "warranty of paint is only 3 months form purchase" However I pushed the point, and they agreed to send me a new mouse. This is a good product in that it prevents wrist fatigue, but it does have it's quirks. ************************************ It is VERY particular over what it will work with. Found 3 issues. The problem is that I use a KVM switch box .... i.e. 2 PC's sharing single mouse, monitor, keyboard. It will not work with a KVM ...any standard mech or optical mouse works fine, this one won't. Manufacturer response was simple - we don't work with KVM's or USB hubs, switches etc. so don't think you can share it. Secondly even when plugged direct into laptop it was very unreliable, often no cursor on screen, or cursor would start moving horizontally on it's own. manufacturer advised it will not work if any other mouse driver present ... I cannot remove built ion track pad driver as it's fundamental to laptop. Thirdly ... it is susceptible to mouse mat type ... I had a mouse mat been using for years, and mouse was very erratic ... put it on a piece of plain white paper and all OK .... but have never come across a plain white mouse mat. manufacturer advised that I should use it on plain white background. All in all a product that is a nice idea but far too fussy and finicky or inter working.

I was skeptical
I was very skeptical before buying this. It's way overpriced if you look at the type of mouse that you can get in comparison but I was starting to get some quite nasty wrist pains from over ten years working in IT and so thought I would give it a try. I can honestly say that all day, I have not had any pressure on my carpal tunnel and no associated in that area. However, the mouse does put a new pressure on the side of your wrist which was very uncomfortable for a while. To fix this, I went to my local computer store and picked up a gel mouse pad ( Sandberg Mousepad / Wrist Rest ) which has proven to be a very comfortable combination. Overall the build quality isn't the best but it isn't the worst either and it is a nice looking mouse with the matt finish on the grip. It's very comfortable and I would recommend it, but only if you are suffering from wrist pains - there are better, slicker mice out there for less money.

It would be nice if it was bluetooth instead of using a dongle which takes up one of my only 2 ports on a MacBook

So taugts mir. FAZIT: Eine lohnende Investition!
