It is a real good nice copy. Blade is of 440 stainless, has a good sharp edge as delivered, and seems heavy duty enough for actual use. Workman ship is high quality.

Will it fit a m1 carbine?

No, it will NOT fit the M1 Carbine. It's not the same as the M1 Garand. The bayonet for the M1 Carbine is the M4, based on the M3 Fighting Knife. BIG Difference!

Which grade of carbon steel is this?

Mine is labeled 440 Stainless, China, and blade is painted black.

Does it fit on a 1903 Springfield?

The m1 grand and Springfield 1903 bayonet lug were the same. Most bayonets used in ww2 were older ww1 bayonets, including the shorter ones which in most cases were long bayonets cut down. I have an origanal that fits both rifels. This being after market and not owning one I can not say it will work on either rifel.
