How does it fit/attach to the hob?

I’ve had mine for years. Just sit it on the cooker with the saucepan on top. Mine has never rusted. It never gets wet. I just let it cool down and pit it back in the cupboard. Simple to use. However, it does leave smuts on the enamel surrounding the burner - not sure what to do about that. 2 mins with Cif abrasive cleaner and it’s good as new.

Would it help with a wood camping stove? Especially the wood gas type which burns wood very efficiently and runs hot.

To be honest, l don't know. It works fine on my gas hob when even the lowest setting is too fierce for my purpose. It has warped though and you'd need to consider if your stove, which burns very hot, would cause more severe warping and make it an unstable surface for pans.Best l can offer, sorry.

Does this rust or distort from the heat?

It doesn’t seem to rust, but I use mine over a gas burner and found that the heat does turn it dark grey/nearly black after a few uses and it doesn’t go back to being silver. However the heat doesn’t seem to warp it and the discolouration does not detract from continuing to use it successfully.
