Q: I am a bit concerned on safety. Most canners seem to have a lock but this does not? Am I missing something ?

This canner is not a pressure canner used for canning low acid foods such as meats and vegetables. This is a steam canner which is a method of canning high acid foods such as pickles and jams. As such, no locking mechanism is needed.

Q: Can this be used on a flat (glass) hob?

Yes, I use it on my glass job, no problems

Q: Does this work on induction?

I don’t think so. Isn’t it aluminium

Q: How much (roughly) is the import tax levied on this product for importing to the uk? please, if you've bought it, and you're in the uk, do tell me.

I'm in the UK and purchased my canner a year ago. I don't recall exact amounts but I think the import Vat was close to £30

a great product at half the price compared to the very few other suppliers in this country

Arrived in good time with a small ding in the side that I assume happened in transport . Very easy to put together , you will need a pz2 screwdriver or similar . Set up and calibrated easily just follow easy instructions . The price is great no import duty or shipping charges from the US .

So light and easy to use compared to a water bath. Works really well. Just need a stainless steel version to work on my induction hob.

Cheapest one and good quality,

Very lightweight aluminium , easy to handle for its size . Temperature gauge a bit fiddly but all in all a good purchase .

Very bad fitting

The media could not be loaded. Lid does not fit properly moresteam comes out of the sides than the hole it’s supposed to,very bad service from this provider

It leaks steam, so never comes to pressure

I have finally used this after having it for 3 months. It is useless.Sadly left too long to return.It leaks at the side where the lid sits inside the tray. This means it never comes to pressure, despite trying to stuff the leak with various things. Total waste of money.

Don't waste your money

I bought this 8 months ago, wasn't able to use it over the summer as my garden didn't do well enough. I ran the test as it states in the manual, page 9 and this is what it did. I hand washed and let it completely dry before doing the test as it states. I've written to the company to get the lid replaced and I'm being told it's my water and that aluminum isn't made for boiling/ steaming yet it's a steam canner. Manual says some discoloration can happen "on the bottom" as you use it but this isn't just discoloration or the bottom... it's the top and some spots are black!
