A: It also happens to me. So I can tell you something that might help you…
First, it depends on what you’re washing 
If you are using it for really messy things like chicken thighs with skins and bones…sometimes, the gunk starts being stuck inside of meshes of the top parts!
I thought the same way you wondered once, so I opened the top part, and I found out bubbles couldn’t come out because the gunk had stuck in it. It’s fine, it’ll keep working if you wash it under the shower…
If it still doesn’t work after that…?
It might be defective item.
Talk to the Amazon customer service and try to get the refund 😉

Seems to do what it's supposed to do. I bought a regular head of iceberg lettuce, broke it up, and submerged everything. Then into the salad spinner. I honestly don't know if it was this machine or if I happened to get a really good head of lettuce but it tasted so clean and.... SWEET! Then I used it with a bunch of radishes that I had already rinsed off and a bunch of cherry tomatoes. I thought they were already cleaned but there was significant soil at the bottom of the bowl when done. I wonder if this will help with dishes that were left overnight in the sink by doing the same routine but with dishwashing soap? I'm sure it won't get them clean but maybe loosen up some stuff and break up that thin coating of slime if dishes sat in the sink for a few days. One thing that I do recommend is to not forget to take it apart, rinse it off, and let it dry completely right after use. I forgot for not even a full day and the two halves became difficult to separate and when I did, there seemed to be some build-up or hard water or corrosion at the joint which bonded it together.
