The marker is permanent, although it can easily be removed from smooth surfaces with a little isopropyl alcohol on if desired. It works well as a thin marker pen but the long nib takes a little getting used to so ideally it's best used for marking with a rule, stencil or object to be drawn around. This is much better than struggling to get an ordinary pencil or pen to reach through holes in a bracket to mark holes.
