DERNORD 12V 100W Immersion Cartridge Heater SS304 Tublar Heater M14 Thread

I used two of these units to make a small solar hot water heater out of a five gallon bucket. Wired two of them in series and connect them directly to a solar panel. In a couple hours I have five gallons of hot water. I'm surprised at how well it worked. Would have been nice to get some documentation with these as I had to guess at which wire is positive. To wire them in series, I just assumed the center wire was positive. I'm guessing this application is not recommended by the manufacturer...but it works. I do have to monitor the water temperature so it doesn't get too hot. And I always unplug the panel before dumping the water. On the next iteration I'll add a thermostat to cut off the power at 130 F and, yes, I'll do a better job on cable management.
