Lovely box of excellent pencils
If you're going to get a set of Inktense pencils this is the one to get. Lovely, well made wooden box which holds the 48 pencils securely in plastic grooves on the bottom and top lid, with an extra wooden holder across the whole of the upper lid, held in place with magnets to prevent any pencils from shifting around. The pencils themselves are gorgeous, lovely rich colour which goes on smoothly, especially on cold pressed paper or Bristol board, and which turn into beautiful rich shades when water is applied. You can get a great depth of colour by layering the same shades, or different ones, and can work wet over dry or vice versa, as well as taking colour directly from the pencil tip with a wet brush. The 48 colours includede are a good range for each colour, with plenty of greens especially. A versatile, exciting product only enchanced by the lovely packaging, this would be an ideal gift for an artist (or just treat yourself).

Great pencils, not such great customer service
The pencils are awesome, really versatile and do all they promise to with a great colour range HOWEVER 1) I am a prime customer yet my parcel took just as long to arrive as if I wasn't, which is annoying as what's the point in having Prime if it's no guarantee? And amazon only let me know it would be delayed after waiting in all day for it to arrive 2) there was a colour missing (replaced with a duplicate) and amazon wanted me to send the whole set back (despite them selling the individual pencils) which after the initial delay I really didn't want to have to do LUCKILY I emailed Derwent first and they sent me a replacement pencil with absolutely no fuss at all which arrived very quickly so should anyone else have this problem I suggest you try contacting them first

Unique and awesome
These pencils are amazing. I have managed to use them for illustrative and fine art work. They dont' have so many 'natural' subtleties for portraiture etc but for stunning artwork they are brilliant. Unlike other water solubel pencils that mix/blend when re-wet, these do not. For this reason they are excellent for layerin and glazing techniques. This makes it easy to mix in a way that creates wonderful luminosity. A little tricky to get used to at first but well worth the trial and error to perfect.

Love these inktense pencils.
They are very versatile. You can use them as normal coloured pencils, layer them or use them with water and a brush. The results are stunning. They look professional, they come in a wooden box with a bar across them which has magnets so that it can't fall down. They can go on paper or material, wood and concrete and many other surfaces. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

These are a delight
Arrived on time and packing was good, the wooden case is perfect!!! Beautifully made, the pencils are a delight, vibrant. I use a model knife to sharpen, keep pencils away from water. Water should be applied to the drawing/paper.

Beautiful
Wonderful pencils. Beautiful quality wooden box. Just lovely. Colours so vibrant once you add water. Easy to control the depth of colour. Can go for instant strong colours or build up in layers. Do swatches as the colours are different than the reference colours on the ends of the pencils. Also helps you understand how much to add for different intensities.

Inktense Pencils.
Very pleased with the set, the wooden box keeps the pencils very neat and clear to pick out which pencils you need. The only gripe I have is that the colour representation is not accurate for instance the Mustard looks green not at all like mustard which is deceiving, so the only way to look for the colour you need is to make a colour chart with labels for each colour, to follow. Otherwise I have made good use of my Inktense Pencils, and perhaps I should have purchased the larger number of pencils. Sue Lloyd.

Beautiful Set
Very good pencils the colours are very intense and bright, a joy to use. Downside for me is the set contains far to many dark colours, which will not get much use, and with the bright colours there are not enough, especially yellows which we use a lot of. I am of the opinion that a smaller set would serve ones purpose just as well. Beautiful wooded box with two magnetic bars to hold the pencils in place, nice that.

My husband got these for me as a mother's day gift about a year ago and even with heavy use I still have not needed to replace any of pencils! Not only do they work amazingly well dry but they also work well when wet and have great durability! There is a great color variety and I have only needed to supplement 3 colors from the additional 28 colors that have come out! I think these pencils are a great value and I absolutely adore them! This is one of the best gifts I have ever gotten!

After reading the reviews, I finally ordered the 72 pencil set in the wooden box. The pencils live up to what they say, I love them. Also, I'm so glad I ordered the set w the wooden box bc it's high quality as well. Beautifully made, with magnetic closing and magnets holding the wood bars across the pencils, keeping them safely in place. Well worth the extra $20. Also, like several others, my set came in much faster than expected. Nothing was damaged, which is a big deal to me. I didn't know that the Derwent brand was of such high quality, and I would buy Derwent products without question, again.... but I always check out any reviews I can find first.
