It holds water if it’s left laying in the shower so mold can easily grow and it can get a little slimy feeling under the mat. It feels thick under my feet and pretty strong. I’ve had it for a few months, and it hasn’t fallen apart one bit. There’s no chance of slipping either so I like to have it on the tub when my toddlers are taking their baths. There wasn’t really any smell, and if you start using it, any smell will fade quickly.
