I've tried various braces and bandages and its been a case of "its fine until I use it". I gave up and went to see a physio who recommended an exercise (while acknowledging that the exercise might not do any good as they're not all that sure how to deal with it beyond "give it time") and this thing. Have to say I was sceptical, but I ordered from the link he gave me and have used it ever since. Its early days, but so far I've been able to do most things (including go to the gym) and I've not been in agony the next day. The rowing machine did twinge a bit, but I got away with it I think. I was very unsure how "tightening a thin band 4" below where it hurts" would help, but it seems there is a science to it and it seems to be doing the job which is what I care about. I've given it 4 stars as its only been a week and I have had some pain during this time. Its more supportive than the other braces I've tried and it seems to be working and helping with the pain. I'll try to remember to update this in the future if it helps. I'm going to get back into exercising this week, so we shall see. But I thought anything that can reduce this pain and at the same time help me consume fewer ibuprofen and paracetamol tablets each day would be a bonus. When I first got this brace I was alternating between ibuprofen and paracetamol every couple of hours and often times the pain would still come through, so I was desperate for some extra relief. When I first wore it I could’ve sworn the product packaging said it should be placed 4 inches below the pain spot. I did that but this placement did not alleviate the pain at all. I thought this device doesn’t work so I put it aside and continued with my pain killer regimen… until one particularly painful day, I decided to try the brace again… this timeI saw a woman in one of the videos of this product on the Amazon page that said to place the brace directly over the pain spot, which I did and to my surprise and delight the pain was reduced almost immediately by 95% and I don’t have to take any more painkillers..YAY!!!
