Robust / trustworthy brand
The ruler is stainless steel, and the base is made of aluminium; as a skilled carpenter, this is my go-to tool. I've been purchasing their gadgets since slice bread. This instrument is extremely accurate, and the Starrett brand is well-known for its dependability. Brilliant value; a must-have in your tool collection. The measurement numbers are clearly visible in bold print and will not fade.Definitely recommend

Perfectly square out of the box and very sturdy
This square has to be the best value square on Amazon right now. I checked its square when it arrived and it is perfect. The rulers are properly calibrated off the respective inner and outer faces of the stock. The thin metal ruler arm of the square is straight not bent like many squares with long thin metal rulers. It feels very sturdy and I expect it to stay square for a long long time. It is made of good quality steel not aluminium so it will not get dented and bashed easily like the aluminium ones do. The length is very useful for general woodwork and also for checking/setting the squareness of flat pack furniture while assembling it. Highly recommended especially at this price!

It's a Starrett
The quality on this is so good for the price, it has a simple job but it's important. Its a good size too fits my mitre and table saw well, a little large for smaller saws but a great addition to anyone's toolkit

Yes it is square & decently made; dirt cheap too
Checked for square using a digital gauge... 90; or possibly 90.1..... close enough for my woodworking capability :)Seems very sturdy but edges and particularly corners of the handle do need softening off for comfort when using, as others have observed. I used a bit of emery paper to do that; - took all of 2 minutes.Very, very good value. I assume this is made in China. Much of the chinese stuff on Amazon is total rubbish but this square is solidly built and fit for purpose.

Can't argue with it
Youngster with me when it arrived asked what it was. I told him it was a square. "That's not a square, it's L shaped!". Couldn't really argue with that observation. Go out and play buddy.Look, you can get worse quality for a good bit more than the few quid this cost. Yes, the edges are a little sharper than they need to be. So, a touch of minor sanding takes care of that. Without doing that, it doesn't inhibit the fucntion it was designed for. Still a bit of a bargin to me personally. If you need a straight edge, check. Very little flex, check. If you need imperial measurements or, half mill markings, look elsewhere. If none of that bothers you, and even if it does a tad, at this price I can still only say it is a no brainer, particularly if you are already a Prime member.

Superb Value. NOTE: Imperial Measurements are absent
Superb Value. Sturdy. Robust. Big. Bigger than it looks in the images - wider - I don't know how accurate it is, did the 'Flip Test' showed less than 0.05 mil off but I can't guarantee the Edge I sat it against is 100% Square. It's plenty accurate for my purposes. All told:; A Starrettt, for less than 4£ (May 2023), I'm not complaining at all!NOTE: Imperial Measurements are absent on mine, maybe that's why it cost so very little? Snap one up if you don't require Super-duper precision!
