Can you transfer calls between handsets?

Yes - in the sense that you can pick up calls on any handset whilst a call (incoming or outgoing) is in progress - so another person can join the call you are on and then you can hang up leaving them talking to your caller. I have not been able to "forward" a call to another handset though.

Our handset seems to have stopped working, can we order a replacement?

Nice to see that Panasonic Customer Services chose NOT to respond to your query. That says a lot about their after-sales care!! Disappointing; I hope you got your free replacement. POOR SHOW PANASONIC.

Can you turn off the LCD backlight so I place the phone by the bed without any light disturbance?

The backlight dims down a level or two (keys off completely, screen dimmer) when in the dock, this is the default setting. You have to set the "LCD to Charging" menu to off for complete darkness.

Is this phone loud ringing, and is the answer phone clear and loud, needed for older parents.

We find it perfectly loud enough even when the kids are playing and watching TV. The answer machine is good too.
