We Were Soldiers [Blu-ray]
We Were Soldiers [Blu-ray] was very well acted and the scenery was very good and the action scenes were very graphic. Very patriotic.

A very good film
One, if not the most accurate film of Vietnam, about 75 to 80% accurate, mainly because Lt Gen Hal Moore and Joe Galloway were the military advisers. I have a number of films about Vietnam and this tops the list.

The Ultimate Horror Show
I have bought and sold this DVD 3 times now and I still come back to It. It Is the ultimate Vietnam War Film, normally I can't abide Gibson and his over the top acting, but In this Instance he's a church going family man with loads of kids. He loves reading Military History and this Is his secret for eventually winning against an equally smart and tough NVA General. He goes into this Impossible area of tension not knowing In my view how many enemy he has to face and you get these massive battles which are quite horrific with casualties on both sides, and you feel the losses of all these very young men, mostly married with Children. This brings me to the Colonels wife who Is the lead female for all the other wifes who frankly don't realise what there men are walking Into and slowly but surely start to receive the dreaded telegrams It gets so bad that she tells the mailman to bring all the telegrams to her and she and her friend go round to the houses.Much later on after all the battles are over she see's the taxi that brings the telegrams and finally thinks here It Is It's my turn now but It Is Gibson finally coming back and there Is this beautiful family scene of surprise and welcome. To round this up this Film was all the better because It was a true story and gave an added measure of poignancy. Finally a special mention for Sam Elliott, his cameo as the troop sargent major was brilliant, as ever he gives full value, In particular his comment to Gibson when they are discussing Tactics and he uses the Immortal words, No Colonel Custer was a Pussy was brilliant.

An Unashamedly Proud War Film
We Were Soldiers takes a slightly different slant to most of the recent Vietnam War movies, in that it is set during the very first few months of the conflict. Based on true events, it is the story of the US Cavalry as they become embroiled in the first large battle between American and North Vietnamese troops. The movie is unashamedly patriotic and is keen to portray the sense of 'doing the right thing' which the Americans believed in during the early 60s, before the mess of Vietnam made them question themselves and take less of a direct approach to foreign affairs until recently. There is a sense that the soldiers depicted here, all professionals and not conscripts, knew they had to go and do their job. For them, it is that simple. The movie attempts to tell their story in as much detail as possible whilst keeping moving, and it is guilty of over-sentimentality, especially on the home front as the soldiers wives nervously await news of their husbands and the inevitable deaths. But in fairness, these are real emotions and deserve to be up there on screen as a reminder of what is left behind by these gung-ho men as they fly off to conflict halfway round the globe. The build-up to the action is fairly slow, with much flag-waving, and Mel Gibson is hardly pushed by his character or script, but does a solid job. The battle itself is a masterpiece, tense and shocking, whilst remaining coherent and showing a good tactical overview - something not always present in such sequences. The film prtrays the North Vietnamese as a well-organised, disciplined unit. Neither side is bogged down with the awful brutality that was to afflict the war in later years. The fighting here is almost honourable. We Were Soldiers does not give any answers, it simply shows that it is ordinary men put in harm's way by their respective countries, and the lengths they have to go to in order to complete their mission. It is excellent viewing and with a full directors commentary plus documentaries featuring the real veterans and the like, it's a very complete package.

My sadness for all those families and not just our allies our thought's are with those people in Asia that lost a great deal of
Europe lost 8 million people in WW2 and we are thankful the American people joined us. Little did we know that while Jacqueline Kennedy was flying her dead husband home from Dallas, Texas, with her family. No person on this earth knew by swearing the Vice President in as President, that as the Commander in chief in this War was Lyndon B Johnson who took charge in that role. What a lesson has been learned from this film as the British, Europe as a whole could not help for many reasons, but the fact it would have been World War three/Yet the truth is, this film brings a reality to us on the screen in HD. The darkest fact is that there is always the next so called empire builders who murder people in the name of a so called caliphate. So now it is not against the Asian it is West with ISIS which we can not let succeed as the horrific scenes and loss of life may well be repeated again. My sadness for all those families and not just our allies our thought's are with those people in Asia that lost a great deal of their men also. My heart and prayers for you all. The film is breath-taking and highlights the folly of, Monarchs, Presidents, Princes, and religious seekers who believe that they can change the World order to try and conform people to their view. To me that is what the film is really about Simply because it is so futile for all.

Film piacevole e interessante

Question dvd, rien à reprocher. Les images et le son sont parfaits pour un dvd.Je recommande sans hésiter ce très bon film qui vous présentera la guerre du Vietnam sous un angle plus humain que des classiques comme Platoon ou Full Metal Jacket.
