I am extremely pleased with this portable toilet. The quality is outstanding, with solid construction and excellent materials throughout. It is sturdy, comfortable, easy to clean, and completely leak-proof. The flushing system works very well, and the waste tank is easy to empty. Perfect for camping, caravans, road trips, or emergency use. It exceeded my expectations and offers excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable portable toilet. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended!

Currently using as emergency toilet due to medical conditions and current property only having 1 toilet, nice flush, decent height for children and adults, very happy with this porta potti, very sturdy, Would definitely recommend for any requirements.

Apart from having to clean it out, there's not much I don't like about this loo. Generally used as an emergency loo, I got this when there was talk of not being able to use campsite facilities during covid19 restrictions. I've taken this along every visit so far and had it inside a loo/shower tent and it fits perfectly with enough space for you to feel comfortable when sitting or standing. I've been using the all in one chemical liquid for both the flush and the lower tank. Generally, even with just using it for emergencies, I emptied and cleaned it every 3 to 4 days. From my research, I saw someone say a family of 4 used it for a weekend camping trip for everything and it still wasn't full by the end (sorry if you're reading this over breakfast). It's fairly easy to clean. Hot water is best and I used a bacterial soap to swill around in it too. Unfortunately, there's a fair few nooks and crannies to get in to but it's fairly good at not leaving anything tough to remove so that's a bonus. The seating position is a bit lower than your normal loo but nothing that causes a problem. Makes it easier for kids too! The flush is pump action. The flow covers the whole bowl area but can spill out unter the seat if you pump it too hard. There's a seat to lift for the lads if you can be bothered to put it up or back down after use. 😁 It clips closed and there's virtually no bad smells that come from it. To empty, you unclip the seat part and take the lower tank away. It can get heavy so I would suggest if you have a long walk to the chemical loo point, you take take it in the car if you can or get one of those folding crate trollys. Most chemical loo points have facilities to wash the loo out.

So let's get the obvious questions out the way. Does it smell? No, we had this within an 8 man tent sectioned off in one of the sleeping pods. It was used by children and adults for two days and no one even noticed it was there until it was needed. The only comment from All was that it was very convienient. Sorry for the pun. Is emptying it a bit icky? No, this was the part I was dredding the most. Emptying the waste was not at all unpleasant. We were at a clean camp site with a designated chemical toilet area. Simply open the cap press the button and release. There were no obnoxious smells and it was a supprisingly easy process. However make sure you follow the instructions and use the right amount of chemicals and water in the waste tank and flush tank. Don't skimp, this product comes shipped with enough chemicals for one full fill and empty cycle. How long does it last before it's full? With two adults and 3 young children it lasted 2 days before we needed to empty it. However we were out and about for 4-5 hours a day where we used other facilities. How long is a piece of string I suppose. Is it heavy? Yes, the waste tank will be holding 30 litres of waste when full so it is heavy when its time to empty. You can empty more often to avoid this but in most cases I would describe it as heavy not unmanageable. No I not a gym goer just a regular sized slowly over wieght 40yr old man. I am really pleased we took this on our first camping trip. With our youngest child being 6 years old it was great not to have to walk half way across a camp site in the middle of the night to use the toilet. The product is extremely well put together and easy to use but follow all the instructions and use quality chemicals. I don't know what the outcome would be if you didn't and I don't want to find out. You will also need special toilet paper like aqua soft otherwise you risk clogging the system up. The products flush system is sufficient if not amazing. It does the job. We always used the toilet with the waste tank open but can be used with tank closed and bowl emptied after use by opening the shutter blade. I would highly recommend this product but I am a very novice camper. Happy we had this bit of kit with us though.

I purchased a chemical toilet as an experiment into alternative forms of toilets. When the product arrived, I must profess the name 'Porta Potti' invoked a sense of embarrassment, especially an adult saying 'don't mind me, I'm going to use my porta potti', as if I had regressed into using nappies. I now just refer to it as either portable toilet or chemical toilet, but one has to wonder what Thetford were thinking when they named it. Assembly was straight-forward, two large plastic parts that slotted into each other, followed by the various components of caps and other small annoying things to screw on. One wonders why the cassette's vent head cap isn't already attached seeing as it fits snugly, but I suspect it's to save labour costs, which at £89 pounds you'd expect to see some effort. The toilet didn't come with any useful instructions. Wordless diagrams pointing proprietary chemical products at seemingly random parts of the toilet with no explanations on quantities, maintenance, replacement part numbers, what is and is not acceptable to put down the toilet and more. It took some videos made by other people online before I understood basic operation. Again, for £89 you'd expect at least a leaflet outlining basic care procedures as well as any safety or hazard warnings. Sitting on the toilet for a prolonged period of time is particularly uncomfortable, as for some reason the seat rim has been narrowed nearer to the front, despite there being plenty of room on the largely square design to expand the seat itself outwards. Men might find the seat a bit of a tight squeeze when sitting down, and if the toilet has been recently 'flushed', might need to use toilet paper to soak up and remove the chemical flush water from the front inner rim (used to channel the flush water) where their 'barrel' might come to rest. One does not want to get chemical flush water on their 'barrel'. A small design oversight as it seems the chemical flush water doesn't drain away too quickly from that area. One common theme with chemical toilets is measurements and measuring tools seem to be suspiciously absent. The cassette *and* flush tank both oddly have no markers indicating of how many litres it can actually hold, which is necessary to know when measuring out the chemical to put in (some chemicals might say 'put 60ml for every 10 litres the waste tank can hold', for example) or how much water to add. Emptying the toilet is quite tricky, and it is not suitable for people who have trouble lifting heavy weights, have bad backs, or become easily nauseous at bad smells or unpleasant sights. The waste tank can hold at least 20 litres worth of waste, making it heavy to lift - this is on top of the flush tank itself, which appears to hold at least between 10 to 15 litres worth of water. In order to dispose of the waste, one must lift the top part - which includes the flush tank - off first, put to one side (ensure the basin is clean so nothing dribbles through the hole), followed by carrying the cassette itself to the location for emptying. It's therefore strongly advised to always refill the flush tank immediately after the cassette has been emptied and put back, as it means the next time you fill up the cassette, you will have emptied the flush tank at the same time, making the top part lighter to take off. In terms of emptying the cassette into a normal toilet, the experience is quite unpleasant. There is no way to regulate the flow of waste exiting the cassette, so it will rebound off the sides and bits and pieces will launch towards out of the toilet bowl and towards your face, which, being bent over holding a heavy weight, will be fairly close to the toilet. It's advisable to wear some sort of goggles to avoid anything going into the eyes. The smell - even with chemical - will be quite nauseous, so ensure the toilet you're using has a working flush and use immediately after emptying the main load of contents. Additional clean water - usually several litres worth - will be required to clean out the remaining bits and pieces in the cassette. Getting the water from a tap into the cassette is usually the tricky part and can create a mess of water. I also found it useful to add a little bit of chemical for the first rinse as it helps to dislodge any remaining elements and reduces the number of rinses. When using the chemical toilet, flushing is a rather perplexing experience. If one pumps too slowly, the flush dribbles into the bowl, wastes fluid and doesn't clean everything. If one pumps too strongly or quickly, they may find the liquid going over the rim and under the seat and down the sides of the toilet. There is no sort of moderation mechanism. Annoyingly fluid gets stuck behind the nozzle and is difficult to clean. Curiously, despite the issues, the Porta Potti seems sturdy and well made. It endures the weight of a full human with seemingly no issue. The lid and toilet seat are designed such they're easy to remove and thus clean and put back on (and I imagine are replaceable). The pump, despite having no moderation, is study and doesn't feel awkward to use. The materials are quality, and stand up to repeated use well. Essentially it's a quality built chemical toilet in need of a few design improvements. Regulation on the pump, a wider, more comfortable seat, markings to indicate measurements, fill lines, more useful instructions and health and safety advice, better flush drainage on the front, something to keep the refill cap attached to the body so it doesn't get lost and a less embarrassing name.

Thetford 365 great product very happy with it except for the fresh water tank cap , which did not come with the item , very unprofessional when items are missing from the package . Cap delivered today 20/8/ 2026 , thanks

I've owned this model for the last few years it is used as a comode what has shocked me is reading the reviews about emptying the water cassette I have always emptied mine directly into the sewer system by lifting the manhole cover, no mess to clean and it's a fast and efficient way to empty it with a hose to flush the water cassette its a simple job to do

franchement, en cas de soucis, sa dépanne bien lorsque vous avez des besoins urgents, sa prend un peu de place certes, mais lors de long déplacement ou même lors de travaux dans les wc de la maison, "sa fait le boulot" comme on dit. Bon rapport qualité/prix
