surprising product
This unit was recommended in another review here on Amazon and I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it to find a canvas storage bag as well! After I had set it up and installed the Silverfast 8 software (which immediately updated to 8.5) I started to realise just what a little gem this is. After a short(1 hour) practice session I got to grips with the film type selection and started recoding my 35mm negatives to the MacBook G-Drive(also from here on Amazon) using the quite neat batch processing with auto number increment - a nice touch - and fits in great with the 6 meg carrier. I agree with another reviewer regarding the plastic film carrier but having 2 would not only give a spare but also speed the process somewhat! It deserves all 5 stars if I could give it 9/10, I would.

Great device, but need to be careful about software if using a Mac
This scanner is much recommended for its quality. I've only had mine for a few days, but I am seeing remarkable results on slides, colour negatives and black and white negatives - clearly better than other scanners I've used in the past. The scanning is not as slow as I'd feared. I will refine this review when I've had more experience.I've only given four stars because of the difficulty of getting started, using an Intel Mac as the attached computer. The scanner gives a license for some very comprehensive software, SilverFast 9. Unfortunately the version of this package on offer doesn't work with recent versions of the Mac OS, and alarmingly produces black files instead of scans. The answer, which can be found deep in the Help files, is to revert to an earlier version of the software. Really Plustek should have sorted this out, particularly in view of the high cost of the scanner.

Good value
This is a slide / film negative scanner which is very efficient at doing its job.Easy to use, scans one slide at a time. I find it easier to use other software to treat the scanned slides...

An excellent slide scanner
I have lots of slides from the 70s through to the 90s and got the scanner to digitise them as a lockdown project.I did have a little trouble setting it up and had to make two calls to Plusnet's helpdesk - but the staff there were terrifically helpful, and now it is working really well and I am delighted with it.

Not fit for purpose
Unable to load software correctly - then can't uninstall what has loaded - manual push pull for slides not practical for over 5000 slides which was the purpose of the purchase.
