KONG Puppy, Natural Rubber Teething Chew Toy, for Large Puppies, Blue

We bought this for our 2-pound Chihuahua puppy, and she absolutely loves it. She started chewing on it the second I took it out of the package—I didn’t even have to put any treats or peanut butter inside to get her interested. The size is perfect for extra-small puppies, and the rubber is soft enough for teething while still feeling durable. It keeps her entertained and gives her something safe to chew on. If you have a very small breed puppy, especially one that’s teething, I would definitely recommend this toy. It’s become one of her favorites.

If you don't know, these toys were developed by Joe Markham, who had a rescue dog that was a chewer. The dog got ahold of a VW axle stop, and he realized it was a great shape for a dog toy. Another friend mentioned it looked like an earplug for King Kong, and the Kong name stuck. These really are perfect. I remember my grandparents dog having one back in the 1980s, and it was a great toy then and hasn't changed too much. The shape bounces erratically, which dogs love, and the shape is great for chewing, fetch, or you can put some peanut butter or a small milkbone inside to get them to play with it for a while. I ordered the medium for a 5 month old beagle puppy, who is about 19 lbs and teething like crazy. She loves this toy, and will chase after it when tossed. Every dog should have at least one of these, and they'll usually outlast most of their other chew toys.

I must be honest; there’s nothing wrong with the puppy toy or its description. The only issue is the type of treats that can be used. There’s a small hole on one end and a larger hole on the other, which prevents me from inserting puppy kibble. Without knowing the recommended treats or the number of treats needed to ensure the puppies can chew and receive treats gradually, it’s challenging to provide them with an enjoyable experience. If the description included information about the typical treats used, it would be greatly appreciated. As a new puppy parent, this information is crucial for beginners who are new to the scene. While Veteran parents may not require this detail, beginners certainly do. Regarding the quality, my doggy children thoroughly enjoyed playing with the toy after a few uses. This kept my dog entertained for quite some time. You can put peanut butter in it and freeze it for a nice treat if it’s a warm day (just make sure you do it outside). It works very well when we need to distract my pup for a minute. The material is very rubbery. It is also nice and durable. Take it from someone whose dog destroys almost everything it gets, this is a good purchase.

Not a whole lot to say about these Kong puppy toys, they stand up to the reputation of being tough and durable. We're about ready to talk this one out only because our puppy has gotten big enough that this is too small for his tongue Plus at some point a choke hazard comes into play. But I will be replacing it with the appropriate sized toy of the same brand. As you can see in the picture of this suffered nearly no wear and tear from 8 weeks old through 12 weeks old, almost daily usage and usually filled with a few blueberries and yogurt. I will say that they are a bit difficult to clean out, just have to find the appropriate size brush and get after it. Definitely approve!

My German shepherd puppy ( 4 months) loves it. It is soothing. I got a small size for now but plan on upgrading to large as she grows. I fill it up with plain Greek yogurt and freeze overnight. She loves it and it gives me a break and some sanity time. It’s a good switch from high energy activities like chasing a ball. It visibly relaxes her, which is not easy for this breed.

You can't go wrong with Kong. Highly durable, and the perfect size for a teething 3 month old GSD. I love putting greek yogurt in the middle, freezing it, and using it to get a little quiet time! Yummy, nutritious, and soothing for the little guy.
